@yatogihaka I never said that, I understand both sides, I personally think there’s reasons to justify piracy but there’s also reasons to demonize it, I just believe in this situation it’s justifiable
@Download_code If they aren’t selling it to us in the first place, I can’t buy it and the creator doesn’t get the money period, mind you for games I’ve pirated, when it becomes available to purchase for me I go out of my way to purchase and play it legitimately
If I was physically incapable of purchasing a product, how is the creator losing money from me pirating it? They wouldn’t have been able to receive my money anyways so how does it impact them at all
Also there’s a weird “give up” mentality from the JP side of twitter I’ve noticed
@2TZqsoovLt19496 No? I have on multiple occasions played through like half a game pirated, then fully purchased it and played through it again when made available
also that’s genuinely just something I saw in a bunch of comments and it was a saying that was mistranslated by twitter
@yatogihaka It really depends on the creator, because a lot of them have the mindset of “if they like it pirated they’ll buy merchandise or the main product at some point”, and some are wholly anti piracy, and some just don’t care, it’s a pretty even split
@Sfpjj3y634z65Gx@notokawaiiyo@Kanpachi_S That’s true, even now there’s these shitty “all in one” handheld consoles with a bunch of clearly pirated games on it (for context, no one buys these things)
@Eriotto_EXVSMB Well you’re the one changing the subject. I never once argued that creators are villains or that harassing them is justified.
I’m not saying creators don’t deserve compensation. I’m saying that piracy isn’t inherently immoral in every conceivable circumstance
@Eriotto_EXVSMB Emotional suffering is not equivalent to moral wrongdoing. Plus, what other versions can I watch for some of these forms of media? Like if given the proper means I’d gladly consume their content and pay them, even if I’ve already viewed it
@bbdl4cof That’s fair, I personally wouldn’t say most people I’ve talked to are smug about it more they just don’t care, as if they were capable of it, even if already pirating said thing they’d still purchase it
@rczawv It costs like $2000+ (313,785.00+ yen) for a round trip flight to Japan, that will unfortunately never be in my budget, if it were made available i would love to purchase most of the products I’ve pirated!
@2TZqsoovLt19496 From my perspective, just pirate it until you can purchase it as they wouldn’t have been able to receive my money regardless until then, and at no point have I looked down on Japanese people, was merely an observation
@awdcfth I don’t really get this perspective as if I purchased something, and my friend pirated it, I wouldn’t even think to judge them, very likely just a cultural difference
@2zlyf Ahhh ok ok, well yeah for crimes like this most Americans generally don’t care, as long as it’s not violent nor cruel, nor excessive most won’t judge, like pirating games from big corporations are seen as ok, but not ones from small independent developers
