@RouxWaterside@PFTrust Chef Alain,
A very worthy cause.
My good friend David Lamb, passed away last month after suffering from pulmonary fibrosis.
He and I enjoyed many wonderful dinners together at the Waterside over the years.
I am supporting the trust and would encourage others to do likewise 🙏🙏
We are delighted to announce Chef Alain Roux will be the first Patron of The Pulmonary Fibrosis Trust @PFTrust
Please support this charity in any way; like and share this message, follow The Pulmonary Trust on social media, make a financial contribution to their fundraising.
Garden centres encapsulate our disconnect from biodiversity. All these powerful chemical to kill our most important pollinating flowers, insecticide and peat extracted from our bogs sold beside imported seed mixtures, bird feeders etc which are marketed to encourage 'wildlife'.
Pole and line fishing for free swimming school skipjack in the Maldives, absolutely zero bycatch, a great pleasure and privilege to be with these hard working fishermen.
A good place to start indeed, but to date FAO have kept a distance from the YFT/IOTC issue, I see no specific reference to this in this document and I am not at all optimistic that they will intervene. I hope I am wrong.
FAO launch new tuna fisheries project to ensure all major tuna stocks are fished sustainably by 2027.
The IOTC was established within the framework of the FAO.
Indian Ocean yellowfin is overfished with overfishing occurring.
A good place to start?

When a marine biologist on the frontline of the climate crisis tells you coral reefs can't survive & neither can her native land unless world leaders at #COP27 reduce emissions, you stop & pay attention. Nekton met @AyaNaseem on our mission to the Maldives - her message is stark
We also asked about the following specific issues:
➡️Shark Finning
➡️Ghost gear and plastic pollution
➡️Climate change
➡️Human and labour rights
➡️Endangered, threatened, and protected species
The MSC was viewed to have made unsatisfactory progress on ALL these issues. 📉
Another wonderful day for a PLT Member tour of @kewgardens by Lead Researcher @HaukeKoch. Beautiful September flowers and late season pollinators. #pollinators
A fabulous PLT day out learning about pollinator identification and — most importantly — getting in some field practice at the beautiful @capelmanor. #pollinators#learning#inthefield

We heavily depend on the #ocean 🌊 and the ocean’s health depends on our actions
#WorldOceansDay marks an opportunity for us to work together to restore our ocean’s health, which is a critical part of the solution to the climate and biodiversity crises.
Over 17000 Maldivian #fishermen depend directly on the #ocean 🌊 and its resources 🐟 for livelihood 🎣
On this #WOD, we call for #sustainable use of the oceans, stop all destructive fishing practices, clean up our oceans & educate children on the beauty of life below water.
Clear evidence that the EU fishing fleet is taking food from the mouths of some of the most vulnerable people on earth. Unacceptable. https://t.co/a3qYJ2kEKI
