Mr Peter Harrison, Executive Vice President and Mr Hisham Mondal, India Head from Environmental Defense Fund along with other officials from EDF called on Dr @ShahMeenesh, Chairman, NDDB and deliberated on various sustainability aspects of Indian Dairy Sector.
Chairman, NDDB briefed about various initiatives and innovations being taken up on sustainability measures through different manure management models from decentralised household level to large scale centralised model and the scope of replicating it across the country. Dr Shah also underscored that the game changer has been the integrated manure management approach from biogas to fertilisers which are directly benefitting the farmers.
EDF thanked Chairman, NDDB for such noble initiatives and mentioned that with suitable partnerships leveraging expertise, these initiatives have immense potential towards gaining carbon credit while at the same time ensuring income and other benefits to the farmers and said that they are looking forward to work more closely with NDDB Mrida Ltd. towards this.
The team from EDF also visited the walkthrough of the Indian Dairy Sector- 'Parikrama' displaying the history and the works being done by NDDB and the cooperative sector, supported by the Government policies and schemes.
