By 27 January the government has to issue guidance on floating bus stops. ALL three national charities representing blind people have said these stops are inaccessible. This will mean the end of blind people’s independent access to their bus services. @NFBUK@RNIB@guidedogs
Is that jingles in the air? Christmas is almost here! Thank you to everyone who came to Catford last night for the Christmas lights switch-on! Catford truly sparkles ✨🎄
You spoke and we took action!
Many of you have told us about concerns on cyclists running red lights.
The Times came out with us last Thursday, when officers stopped more than 60 cyclists in two hours running a red light.

NEW - we've data showing huge numbers of people reducing their income to avoid high marginal income tax rates. Not just at the £100k point (as previously reported). But at the £50k point:
Amazing story in The Times. Reform UK failed to pay VAT to HMRC on its sales (tickets, merchandise). About £400k in all.
Not tax avoidance. Not tax evasion. They just didn't realise when you sell stuff you have to charge VAT.
From the @FT:
“UK consumers have curbed spending more than anywhere else in the G7 since the pandemic, as high interest rates and fear of economic shocks prompt households to build up savings rather than splashing out.
Since the start of the Covid pandemic in 2020, UK household spending has risen just 1 per cent in real terms and fallen 3 per cent on a per capita basis.”

Last night @TowerBridge bascules were raised to let the world’s last sea-going paddle steamer in to berth in London. The historic @PS_Waverley decks were packed with hundreds of passengers; there are sailings to/from here for the next week or so, and still a few tickets left.
I was gobsmacked at seeing this poster at Dalston Kingsland suggesting all is fine with London bus performance. After a decade of neglect journey times are slower than ever and reliability has gone back to the level of Mayor Livingstone’s first term. Nothing short of disastrous.
Per Bloomberg:
“Italy, long a symbol of European economic stagnation, has almost completely closed a gap with the UK that was around $4,000 per head just before the 2016 Brexit vote, International Monetary Fund data based on purchasing power parities show.
Back then, the UK was also roughly level with France. Now, with a per capita output of $54,556, Britain is estimated to be just $500 ahead of Italy and almost $1,700 behind France.”

It was a pleasure to join the celebration of 40 years of the Calabash Day Centre today, a vital space for care, culture and community in Lewisham. Proud to pay tribute to the legacy of former Mayor Les Eytle, whose vision helped make this possible. Thank you to the Friends of The Calabash for organising such a fantastic event attending by @LouiseKrupski@John_Muldoon@JamesJWalsh@CarolWebBrown

📞🚫 We’ve been working to remove defunct phone boxes along Rushey Green — many out of use and attracting antisocial behaviour.
They’re being replaced with modern units, including some with defibrillators. 🚑📟

Since April 2024, Greenwich has gone from having 155 families in expensive ill-suited hotel rooms to 0 now.
We're building more social housing and affordable housing and standing up to rogue landlords because everyone deserves a safe, secure place to call home.
Meet the cast for this year’s pantomime!
We are thrilled to announce the principal cast for this years pantomime, with a delightful local twist, Dick Whittington and his Catford Cat 🐈⬛ written by Susie McKenna and coming to Broadway this festive season 🎄🎄

For the hundreds of constituents who contact me every week on the horrors in Gaza, I questioned the Foreign Secretary yesterday 👇🏾
Today's must-read article from @London_Centric covering Criterion Capital's dodgy tenants and their unpaid tax bills. HMRC needs to step in and quick. https://t.co/dce5r3GTzd
Over 33 hours of sewage releases in Whitstable yesterday from @SouthernWater, due to too much rain.
As that happened, they were implementing a hosepipe ban for one million people across the south-east due to not enough rain.
What a brilliant system.
