🔴⚪ OTD — One Year Ago.
Liverpool had just won the league. Their fans were celebrating at Anfield. And in the middle of all that joy, they found time to hold up a banner mocking Mikel Arteta in a bridesmaid dress.
"Always the Bridesmaid. Never the Bride."
Dear Arsenal fans, do you remember it?
Please never forget
Mehn. They couldn't even enjoy their own title without dragging us into it. That's how much Arsenal live rent-free in rival heads.
And our boys? They walked into that stadium, formed a guard of honour for the champions, and kept their heads down. No drama. No excuses. Just dignity.
Because when you're building something real, you don't need to respond. You let the work speak.
Fast forward 365 days.
Arsenal are sitting TOP of the Premier League. Two wins from the title. Liverpool are 20 points behind us — twenty — and Anfield is no longer making banners about Arteta. They're watching us from a distance, hoping we slip.
We are not slipping.
Read that again. Slowly. Let it sink in.
The same man they dressed in a bridesmaid gown is now the most feared manager in English football. The same squad that gave a guard of honour last season is now the one that will receive one.
That banner didn't break Arteta. It didn't break this team. If anything, it gave us receipts to cash in.
You know what the funny thing is? Liverpool fans thought they were mocking a man who couldn't win. What they were actually doing was documenting a moment — a before-and-after — that Arsenal fans will show their children one day.
"This is where we were. This is what they said. This is what we became."
It didn't break us. It made us strong.
Champions Elect. 👀
COYG. Always. 🔴⚪
Absolute joke that the Burnley game has been moved to the Monday at this late notice. So many fans of both clubs out of pocket having booked flights, hotels, travel, etc. So many now won't be able to go because of work issues, childcare, etc.
Final home game of the season, place should be bouncing afterwards, especially if there is something on the Palace game for Arsenal. Supporters roaring the team on at the lap of appreciation, etc, before they head to Selhurst Park.
Yet that will probably be at about 10.30/10.45pm now, probably to a half empty stadium because do many have to get off for trains, etc.
It's just a disgraceful situation. Again, zero thought for fans at all. Broadcasters just don't care.
Joe Hart is one of the most insightful pundits in English football. Listen to his analysis on Raya against Chelsea
Best GK in the Premier league if not the world
Watching Emi Martinez go from having a trim, nose wax and hot towel for every goal kick to berating the ball boys for not giving him the ball quickly enough in the space of five minutes, very funny, would watch again.
Don’t let @Carra23 or @LFC get away with this dishonest underdog gimmick.
They’ve broken the British transfer record twice in one window and are champions.
Not only is the pressure on them to win the league, anything less than a semi final appearance in the CL is failure.
This dominant, treble-winning PSG team were beaten on xG in just six matches this season.
Those games were: Monaco (A), Bayern Munich (A), Aston Villa (A), Arsenal (A), Arsenal (A), Arsenal (H).
Pep Guardiola couldn't win the Champions league in 4 attempts with a Bayern Munich super team.
It took Pep Guardiola 7/9 attempts to win the Champions league with Manchester City.
Klopp has only one Champions league trophy in his entire managerial career.
Mourinho was hired by Real Madrid and given unlimited resources to deliver the Champions league and he failed.
It's only Mikel Arteta who's expected to win it with his first and second attempt.
I know where we were before this man and where we are at the moment. Call it a blind faith or whatever but I'm not giving up on him.
We fall short, rise up and go again until we make it Mikel. We go again next season Mikel.
