Can anyone explain whether it is legal for Harare City Council to charge a towing fee and a
fee when I drove my car to their offices myself and paid the fine immediately after arriving there?
The issue started yesterday when I wanted to drop my wife off along Jason Moyo Avenue in the Harare CBD. There was a car coming out of a parking space, so I stopped and waited for it to pull out before I could park. As soon as I entered the now-empty parking space, Harare City Council officials approached my vehicle and accused me of being dangerously parked and operating as an InDrive driver, which was not true.
The officials then got into my car and instructed me to drive to their offices. At first, I thought it was a minor issue and expected to pay a small fine and continue with my day, especially since I was already late for work.
To my surprise, I was charged a storage fee of US$120 for a vehicle that had only been at their premises for about 10 minutes, as well as a towing fee of US$10, even though I drove the car there myself. In total, I paid US$172.
I am trying to understand whether these charges were legal and justified under the circumstances. Has anyone experienced something similar, or does anyone know what the law says about charging towing and storage fees when a vehicle was neither towed nor stored for any significant period?

Turn your idle farmland into mango gold. Invest in mango orchard today and reap rewards for decades to come.
From land as little as 2000sqm, you can fit 200 trees.

Hi Crime Watch ZW, I’d like to bring to your attention a serious and long-standing issue at St Ignatius College (Chishawasha) involving severe buIIying and alleged cases of s0d0my and abus€ among students.
Despite several reports made to the Goromonzi District Education Office, nothing has been done, the Headmaster is reportedly boasting of political connections, and the matter continues to be ignored.
There are already online reports about similar abus€s at the same school, but the situation remains unresolved and continues to put students at risk.
I’m appealing for your help in amplifying this issue and bringing it to light so that the Ministry of Education and child protection authorities take real action.

Chibuwe becomes first Polytechnic High School
One may be pardoned for thinking that Chibuwe Technical High School in Chipinge is not in Zimbabwe.
The school which enrols between 1 500 and 1 600 students has gone fully polytechnic and offers motor skills subjects that are not available at any other school in Zimbabwe.
Chibuwe which is a winner of the 2019 Secretary’s Merit Award and runs a sports academy, a driving school, a division 2 team, a boat production department, carpentry shop, a vehicle production department, the biggest biogas project for any school in the country, a bakery run by students and farming projects.
Through the sports academy, Chibuwe trains referees and has the youngest soccer referee in the country, Delbert Maziyedzenyu who is aged 13.
Chibuwe is one of the only 11 high schools in the country granted technical high school status by Government in 2023. The technical status was given to 10 Government schools under a pilot project in which each school had to do one technical subject.
Chibuwe is not a Government school and it therefore only got that status by de facto.

Surely someone out knows these criminals. The lady was even confused as to what she wanted. This eHailing driver died, for what? For what hle? Koloi? Phone? Money? Life was taken in Pretoria West. We need to find these criminals.
She has kidney failure. Rachael Musekiwa is 32 years old, a single mother of two beautiful girls, and she is currently receiving treatment. Her story is very sad.
Her health problems started in mid-2023 while she was living in China. At first, she thought she was just feeling unwell and tried using medication, hoping it would pass. Unfortunately, her condition became worse over time. She experienced extreme fatigue, vomiting, weight loss, skin and hair problems, and depression. On May 1st, 2024, she was diagnosed with end-stage kidney failure (Stage 5) and immediately started dialysis.
Since returning to Zimbabwe, she has been receiving treatment at Parirenyatwa Hospital from June 2024. Sadly, due to financial challenges, she can only afford dialysis twice a week, even though doctors recommend more sessions. For those who would like to help, please send money directly to her mother. Do not send money to the person in yellow. Thank you.
