ICELAND DELETED DOWN SYNDROME
A US YouTuber with 4.3M subscribers just told the internet he and his wife terminated their pregnancy after a Trisomy 21 diagnosis. The backlash was instant.
But nobody talks about how normal this already is worldwide.
- Iceland aborts nearly 100% of Down syndrome pregnancies - just 2 to 3 are born a year
- Denmark sits at 98%, with years where every diagnosed baby was terminated
- Across Europe, Down syndrome births have dropped 54%
- Life expectancy went from 9 years in 1929 to around 60 today
The science quietly outran the ethics. Almost nobody noticed.
@MattWalshBlog It was never a child Matt.
You're a very clever person on many issues, so I know you choose your words carefully, but on the issue of abortion you always use terms that are emotive because you SO want this issue to sound more destructive than it actually is.
@zarahussain999@PolitlcsUK 8% is amazing considering the media don't cover them or cover them accurately AND the party is only 3 months old.
Sample size of 518 people by the way so calm the fuck down.
@TheOfficerTatum You religious wankers are so die hard on this issue that you're willing to burden a young family for YOUR principles.
Your unwillingness to compromise or shut the fuck up is why I will always be pro-abortion. You don't care really.
NEW: Border Collie in China with 1.5 million followers stolen, sold for $27 to a restaurant, and then eaten.
The dog's owner, a Chinese travel blogger named 'Guo,' documents his travels with his dog.
While he was away on an overseas trip, the dog disappeared while in the care of Guo's dad. Surveillance footage showed two people stealing the animal.
Guo was able to track down the thief and offered $1500 for the return of his dog, but was told the dog had been sold for $27 and eaten.
The thief says he thought the dog was a stray.
"The dog is dead, so stop making a fuss. I did not break the law," the man allegedly said.
Doom and Age of Empires creator Sandy Petersen blasts Amazon over their handling of Stargate:
"1) get handed a massively popular IP that spans 17 years of successful shows."
"2) realize it has millions of loyal fans, desperate for more. They are now in their 40s and 50s, flush with money. Eager to teach their kids & grandkids about Stargate."
"3) you could start with this. You are already three steps up the ladder to huge success. The fans will evangelize it, if you don't wreck the IP. Don't believe it? Look how the fans evangelized Battlestar Galactica after its 30 year hiatus. And the initial Dr Who reboot after 15 years."
"4) cancel the project because you want a "new take" that will eliminate all the loyal fans and turn them into bitter enemies."
"It's like an ancient Greek play about hubris."
Why are corporate execs like this?
@reece_us@PolitlcsUK Not "some Brits". Nobody has excplicitly voted for immigration. If anything they keep voting for no migration and each successive party after Blair kept bringing them in.
Was there a housing crisis before 1997? That's when immigration started to ramp up.
@LearingTogether@Elizabeth_t45 Did I say assault her? Myrion hasn't assaulted anytbody as far as I know.
For a start, Brian could attempt to look masculine.
@reece_us@PolitlcsUK Reece, the British people never wanted immigration, ever. We want children and a rising birthrate can be managed. Millions entering a country quickly and successfully causes a faster spike.
Not the same thing.
