While this is a tough statement for his QBs to hear (I’d hope he talked w/ them privately beforehand), you can’t blame Coach Bohl for his honesty, using the tools the NCAA has provided (Transfer Portal & NIL), & using the communication channels available to help keep his job.
@jaboman22@PatrickDaberkow Congratulations Austin. I enjoyed meeting you on your visit. I’m looking forward to having you with us in the College of Business.
@cearthh_ @CUNEwbb Yayyy Charli!!! It was great meeting you and your parents. I’m looking forward to having you in the College of Business, even if @JenFruend has your for a time in Environmental Science :)!!!!
I’m always in awe of @NavyFB. Despite a recruiting pool that is a small % of avg FBS schools due to the elite character/academic standards for admission & the uncomparable sacrifice needed to excel as an athlete/soldier/student, they still either hang w/ or dominate every week.
The relationships developed w/ players & parents are why coaching is the most rewarding job on earth. 9 yrs flew by after this young man started playing for me @lhscougarfb. Today I had the pleasure of seeing him dance w/ his Mom at his wedding. In May he earns his Doctor of PT.
My first intro to @CoachAllenIU was the clip below. His philosophy is unique to FBS football, but so important for a foundation & culture change. The win today puts IU at its’ 1st 8 win season since ‘93. Build it right! Tom Allen's Philosophy https://t.co/b9fB786gKg via @YouTube
Class of ‘20 HS football players: Take the holiday to talk w/ those YOU love & trust about how YOU feel about the game & if YOU want to commit another 4+ yrs to it. If it’s not, it’s OK, God has a plan for you. If it is, find a program that has values that align w/ who you are.
Those thinking about playing college football, YOU must truly love it, not the idea of doing it. YOU (not your parents/relatives/friends) will need to commit yourself to working at a higher level than you can imagine for 4+ yrs, not them.
When talking w/ HS coaches to see if a player is a good fit for a program I invest a lot of time in, that is led by a great group of men who care about their players, & knowing that player’s work ethic will directly add to or hurt the culture...yep, this is a deal-breaker
