Somalia's President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud in an interview with Dawan Africa:
“Returning to the 2012 Constitution is impossible. The 2012 Constitution is now part of Somalia’s constitutional history and remains in the archives.”
“We did not write a new constitution. We only completed the constitutional review process that was already mandated within the 2012 Provisional Constitution.”
“No president can tailor a constitution for himself. The idea that I am designing a system for my own re-election is political rhetoric that has been repeated against every Somali president.”
“The opposition has not presented an alternative political vision. They only oppose every reform, every constitutional review, and every electoral change.”
“Mogadishu’s security will not be compromised. We will not allow armed groups or political actors to return the city to the era of checkpoints, division, and instability.”
“There are individuals and external actors who want Somalia to remain weak and stagnant. Investigations are ongoing and the findings will be presented to the public.”
“Al-Shabaab has not been defeated yet. The war is still ongoing. It continued last night and it continues this morning.”
“The only lasting way to defeat terrorism is to strengthen the Somali state, its institutions, and its governance.”
“Jubaland’s current leadership is not recognized by the Federal Government, and we continue to seek a political solution through dialogue.”
“Somalia approached constitutional reform, elections, and state-building through dialogue, but some political actors refused every proposal brought forward.”
“United States remains an important partner. President Trump’s remarks about Somalis should largely be understood within the context of American domestic politics.”
“Restrictions imposed on Somalis abroad are symptoms of state weakness. The solution is a stronger Somali state capable of protecting its citizens and interests.”
“Türkiye was willing to take risks where others hesitated. Somalia welcomes investment and cooperation from any partner willing to work under mutually agreed terms.”

The claims shared on some social media accounts, aimed at manipulating public opinion, that “Türkiye is interfering in Somalia’s internal political processes and is using its military forces to put pressure on the Somali opposition and support a specific political actor”, are entirely unfounded.
The Republic of Türkiye has for many years maintained legitimate cooperation with the Federal Government of Somalia, in full accordance with international law, with the aim of strengthening Somalia’s security, stability and institutional capacity.
Türkiye’s military presence and training activities in Somalia are directed toward restructuring the Somali National Army, modernising security institutions, and improving counter-terrorism capabilities.
Turkish military personnel have absolutely no involvement in Somalia’s electoral processes or internal political dynamics. Türkiye supports the peaceful continuation of Somalia’s democratic process and fully respects both the sovereignty of the country and the will of the Somali people.
We strongly urge that such posts spreading disinformation and black propaganda efforts aimed at undermining the deep-rooted relations between Türkiye and the friendly, brotherly Somali people should not be given any credence.
