Love this, also love the “Nature Foundation Models” comment and my contribution is also “Nature Transcriptional Clusters” and “Nature Landscapes” for our generic, no hypothesis, landscape of (modality output) in (disease type) friends.
PSA: Stop calling macrophages in tissue M1 or M2. These are not states that exist in biology. The only use of M1 is a macrophage cultured ex vivo with LPS and IFNg; and for M2: IL-4/13/10. Macrophages in tissues are highly complex and diverse and do not resemble either of the aforementioned M1/M2 states. M1/M2 language causes confusion and sets the field back. Refer to your macrophages by the molecules they express and the cytokines they make.
I don’t normally post personal things on here but if you know me, my comfort with public speaking (even scientifically) comes from this guy.
I was proud to support my dad this weekend for his Iowa RnR HOF induction, with the family. 40+ years in radio!
RFK: “microplastics are bad”
(cites recent study from OSU)
EPA: on same day, cancels that research grant on microplastics to OSU

I’m honored to serve as the next CEO of the @osuccc_james & look forward to joining my new Buckeye colleagues at @osuwexmed & @ohiostate to take bold steps to advance the future of oncology across Ohio & nationally. Check out my LinkedIn to learn more. https://t.co/Mr1dw4eUXX
@VPrasadMDMPH So do YOU have any empirical evidence to support the claim that funded diversity based grants are of lower quality and standards? I get your argument but its really based personal anecdotal opinions.
In my experience, “publish as fast as possible” in comp bio is ruining research. Too many fill-in-the-gap strategies to publish a new ai model. You can’t impute variants or lab values. What you see is what you get, so work around it.
@jbhuang0604 I guess I don’t consider image models the same as image-text models. There are a number of instances where self supervised models work fine on images alone. This of course depends on what you want to accomplish.
Science network! Im at #SITC2024 and excited to represent OSU the #PIIO IO informatics group (IOIG). I look forward to evaluating the current bioinformatics and AI research in IO as well as networking with other early investigators. Hit me up!
I sure wish GEO had a comment box. I think 50% of processed datasets I try on there are not what the authors listed in their data availability…shame on you.
Thrilled to share our article "A single-cell and spatial RNA-seq database for Alzheimer’s disease (ssREAD)" has been published online Nature Communications. This is a great teamwork between @ Qin Ma BMBL group and Postdoc Diana Acosta in my group.

Come see me on Thursday! I'll be discussing single cell foundation models and their potential applications in studying tumor immunity. Stay tuned on this exact topic for work from myself and @QinMaBMBL lab coming later this year.
