Councillor @SeanOrr has food security on the agenda this week at City Hall.
The motion proposes common sense measures:
- Identify City-owned land in Food Priority Zones
- Protect culturally significant, affordable retail
- Pilot a public option for affordable groceries
Today would have been the 51st birthday of former Chilliwack MLA Dan Coulter.
At the request of a follower, we're posting some of our favourite clips of Dan. Hopefully they'll help you miss him just a little bit less today. 🥲
Ken Sim showing whose side he’s on. Hint: it’s not the side of people struggling to find affordable housing. It’s not the side of renters. It’s not the side of a vibrant, caring city.
So blanket rezoning is good unless the blanket is for people who actually need social housing. The Broadway Plan proves height isn’t the issue. Who the homes are for is.
How penny-pinching can @KenSimCity and his council get? The city has cancelled it's modest $17,000 grant to
Repair Cafes, a marvellous organization that repairs objects for those who can't afford new ones. Now the Cafes are in jeopardy....$17,000!! A pittance #vanpoli
> community advisory committees $11k
> baby-changing tables $56k
> Britannia Community Centre $450k
> VIP FIFA tickets $13,500,000
someone who is good at the economy please help me budget this. my city is dying
$13.4M for FIFA VIP suites? While people bear the burden of this budget’s cuts to arts, climate action, community services, and even baby-change tables? Vancouver shouldn’t be paying the price for this Ken Sim majority ABC Council’s choices.
Hi everyone, I’m Amanda Burrows! I’m a renter, a community-builder, a non-profit and faith leader and, with your help, @OneCityVan’s candidate for Mayor of Vancouver.
How long until Ken Sim and ABC latch on to this as a “solution” to bring back all the services they have to cut in their budget…
instead of just maintaining services with a modest property tax increase that the majority supports
This Liberal candidate claims she supports ‘workers’. But labour leaders call her track record ‘disingenuous’.
BC labour unions say Liberal candidate Stephanie McLean worked for an ‘anti-union’ law firm that is ‘widely vilified in the BC labour movement’

Ugh. This is the riding where I grew up. I really hope voters elect good a good MP on April 28 and don’t get stuck with a lately-Liberal who thinks representing a community is a part time job.
Voters in Esquimalt-Saanich-Sooke may be interested to know that when their Liberal candidate was an MLA in Calgary, she considered it a part time job. 🧵
I am deeply honoured to receive the endorsement of @Puglaas . Her integrity, courage and leadership inspire us all to champion justice, equality and reconciliation.
In one of the more interesting moments in the campaign, @42kareemallam - who was @KevinFalcon’s leadership campaign manager - whips up the crowd in Yaletown and explains why he’s taken out an NDP membership to vote for @Dave_Eby
Unbelievable. Jordan Kealy is pushing a chem trail conspiracy ***today***
Rustad and his candidates are still actively spreading bizarre misinformation. 1/2
I’ve lived here for thirty years. I’ve worked here. I’ve raised my children here and like countless @bcndp candidates I want the best for my community. This is my home and tomorrow I’m hoping you’ll choose me to represent it - please get out and vote! #bcpoli
With John Rustad, conspiracy theories are a feature - not a bug.
He was the guest of honour at an anti-vaccine conference. Here’s what he said about it.
