I think any discussions about membership growth in DSA, either nationally or local chapters, needs to be paired alongside the number of present and expected lapsed members, and renewal rates.

@oliviakatbi I believe the use of the word "revolutionary" here is meant to be synonymous with "anti-capitalist." For ex., the way Bernie Sanders talked about needing a political revolution. It's a more evocative way to represent the broad group of people dissatisfied with the status quo.

The argument made here is that staff unions in truly democratic membership orgs and workers in the public sector both confront the same kind of boss. But that assumes that elected officials in the US government have real democratic legitimacy. That's wrong.
