A "dystopian future of cheap open source AI available to all". ๐
This is the old "John Bolton waking up from a nightmare dream of peace on Earth" meme we should apply to AI! Same vibe! ๐
OpenAI and Anthropic executives are sounding the alarm about the rise of cheap AI, particularly powerful new models produced in China, suggesting they will lead to a โdystopianโ AI future and present unacceptable security risks without regulation. https://t.co/9jKfO3DhDN
And yet...
Sam Altman just posted that OpenAI was behind the AI attack on Huggingface where they had to use Open / Chinese models to defend against the attack because US Foundation models refused to help "due to safety".
You cannot make this up. This is the real story.

On this day in 1946, Zionist terrorists of the Irgun organisation, led by future Israeli PM Menachem Begin, bombed the King David Hotel, the British Administrative HQ in Palestine.
At the time, it was the deadliest terror attack targeting British subjects. Disguised as Arab workmen and waiters, the members of the Irgun planted a bomb in the basement of the main building of the hotel, whose southern wing housed the Mandate Secretariat and a few offices of the British military headquarters. The resulting explosion caused the collapse of the western half of the southern wing of the hotel.
91 people of various nationalities were killed, and 46 were injured in the attack. In 2006, former Irgun fighters and right-wing politicians commemorated the attack on the King David Hotel in celebration with a conference, and also unveiled a plaque in front of the King David Hotel in a ceremony.
Current Israeli Prime Minister and genocidal war criminal Benjamin Netanyahu attended the celebration and gave a speech defending the Zionist terrorists of Irgun.
@Fawxcs@ripplebrain Yes, I have no Idea why they picked a fight with a people who enjoy a fight as much as the Irish do, and have hypersonic missiles to boot.
@ArthurMacwaters LOL, it's interesting that out of 320+ replies, the vast majority if which critical of your post, this is the one you choose to respond to ๐๐คฃ
Really, "they're not sending their best"
@TedRall These are people who have NO idea what communism or capitalism are or mean, who have never read, or even heard of, Adam Smith, Debord, Ricardo, Proudhon or Marx, total completely ignorant people using words that are to or three syllables longer than they can comprehend.
"Netanyahu agreed to let in only a small amount of supplies, which would have to come through Rafah... he also asked that this minor concession remain secret. He feared a domestic backlash for not starving Gazaโs women, children, and other civilians.โย โ

Frontier modelers begging for U.S. government protection. Not a good look (and wouldn't work anyways). Nevertheless, it's proof that their business models (if they even ever had them) are in a lot of trouble and thus, so is the great AI capex-driven stock market bubble. https://t.co/fhOIhc17cv
@DanDavisWrites The truth is "red" wine is not red, even though it may have a reddish tint or reflexes, red wine is sort of blackish, and many latin languages refer to it as so (in Portuguese "tinto").
@DAMendelsohnNYC In Portuguese we also refer to red wine as dark, "tinto", and to be honest, almost all "red" wine is blackish in color, even if sometimes having reddish reflexes etc...
@pureMetatron LOL, it's so completely historical that Schliemann & co. largely found Troy's location just by reading its description and the landscape aroun it in the Illiad.
