The church in Acts had no growth strategy.

No attendance contest.
No fog machine.
No celebrity in the pulpit.
No capital campaign.
No consultant.
No coffee bar.
No app.

Their leaders were fishermen and a tax collector. The council's own record calls them "unlearned and ignorant men."

They had prayer. The Holy Ghost. Men who would die.

And they "turned the world upside down."

They asked Jesus whether taxes belonged to Caesar.
Jesus asked them to bring Him a coin.
"Whose image is this?"
"Caesar’s."
Then give Caesar
what bears Caesar’s image.
But His answer does not end with the coin:
"And to God what belongs to God."
What bears God’s image?
You do.
The coin could be returned to the ruler
whose face was stamped upon it,
but humanity belongs to the Creator
whose likeness was pressed into its being.
Jesus was answering a question about taxes,
but beneath it was a question of ownership.
Caesar may claim what carries his inscription.
God claims the heart,
the body,
the breath
everything still carrying fingerprints
no empire could place there.
