@VoiceOfFranky This is Pew's typology.
I hit the WP paywall, but then searched for the names and found the, freely available Pew typology.
For anyone who is interested, here is a starter link

@humantransit The boundaries are difficult...
"being different" encompasses a range from "speaking with an accent" to "smoking crack" to having a violent mental episode. I've friends who'd argue riders should tolerate all of that (sadly they largely choose to drive).
@johnastoehr This would be a whole lot more pursuasive if we hadn't re-elected Trump.
The rules have changed. We are not going back. I hope we can recreate something like the old rules (but better) but that is no longer the default
@matthew_d_green Doesn't seem conceptually that much different than age restrictions to be at a bar.
I get there are technical/tech implications, but the general principal of age restrictions on some aspects of adult society is quite well established.
@oldeadeye69@Nokomis_Dad I'm guessing you are not from Minneapolis.
The Mayday parade has been around since 1975. If it is a harbinger of the end, it's sure been a long time coming...
@envisionedluna For my Scottish mother "Presbyterian" was synonymous with "Scottish" despite their families distant relationship to that faith.
As a former Iowan the Reformed Church is always known as "Dutch Reformed"
Just off the top of my head.
@envisionedluna Nonsense
I live in Minneapolis, and there are several distinct groupings of cultural Lutherans that are easily recognizable to anyone from here.
I'd offer that all older religions have a strong ethnic component.
@AlexanderPayton Is gambling addictive?
It's clearly not the same mechanism as cigarettes or alcohol.
Can one be addicted to marijuana? Amphetamines? Both have a lot of similarity to the drugs you define as addictive, but the mechanism is different enough.
@Noahpinion Seems a deeply flawed take to me.
A lot of folks who ID'ed as "Republican" 3+ years ago now ID as "independent". They're almost certainly lean-republican. This stat almost certainly reflects that rather than broad sentiment.
@physicsgeek Jeez....
The Tet Offensive was an NVA campaign. And yes it succeeded, it was much more effective than the US expected, and caused many in the US to realize that war could not be easily won. I mean, I know I'm old enough, but it's not that hard to google it...
@SeanTrende@lordsutch@MattGlassman312 That's the terminology that the traders use. It's not literal, and it's not about Trump's courage (or lack of). It is about how the market discounts rhetoric and prices in assumptions.
@FortySacks I'm a Canadian citizen who's lived since childhood in the US. I've long felt that in-betweeness, but more from an internationalist perspective. I've never considered that some of this might be intrinsic to "canadianess" but that seems kinda true.
