@maustermuhle This has been an outstanding issue and there is no easy solution to it. @MayorBowser has been routinely breaking this law. However, if there are no qualified candidates then someone has to run the agency. Hopefully @Janeese4DC administration will refrain from this bad habit...
@SmithSteiner@MayorBowser, has been routinely breaking this statute but what can be done about it? Hopefully, the incoming admin of @Janeese4DC will refrain from this bad habit... On the other hand, if the admin can't find a capable candidate then they have to extend existing folks....
@PostOpinions Fair point, but at the same time, ensuring that tax loopholes are closed and raising some revenue in the process is not a bad idea. There needs to be a combination of review of both spending for ineffective programs as well as raising revenues by closing loopholes. @Janeese4DC
@MayorBowser@DC_OCA This is a great program and many other jurisdictions nationwide copied it. The only change is that hopefully the incoming administration of @Janeese4DC needs to expand it to cover all summer or subject to funds availability make it available throughout the entire year.
@tomsherwood You are spot on. DC was able to recover from the control board era precisely due to the work of all previous CFOs, including Tony Williams, Gandhi, and Lee. CFO's independence is the necessary check to ensure that politicians don't deviate from the balanced budget. @Janeese4DC
@CMZParker5@ZacharyforWard5@CMCHenderson Both Saint Elizabeth and Cedar Hill need more oversight. Hopefully, both @councilofdc and the incoming administration of @Janeese4DC will provide that oversight and hold both facilities accountable for providing quality services to their customers.
@PostOpinions A realistic view of the challenges ahead for the future JLG administration. Campaigning is one thing, but governing is another, and I think @Janeese4DC will strike a middle ground on some issues to safeguard DC's budget and autonomy.
