“During one argument, she recalled, he [Platner] twisted her arm behind her back, shoved her into a bedroom and held the door closed from the other side so she couldn’t get out, telling her to remain there until she was “calm.” Eventually, Ms. Fifield said, she fell asleep and left the next morning.” https://t.co/plQouoUDqp via @NYTimes
The issue isn’t whether this one new controversy or that is survivable for Platner.
It’s that this is one more log on the fire — and it’s the question of how women view him versus men.
@PeterHamby Any single one of the scandals he's had could be survivable, but all together, and compounded with his denials that there is anything else to find only for something else to come up. He just looks like a fraud.
@Ericrse37986 He seems to believe that socialists are both the base of the Democratic party and the silent majority of the United States. That's one flaw even Platner doesn't have.
NYT: Was expected to publish last night, was delayed by Platner’s lawyers. Story is about his ex GF alleging some kind of assault. He would block her from exiting rooms with his size, she would be frightened. Uncontrollable fits of anger. She called friends and family, documented. Yes she’s a former GOP operative. Partisanship isn’t the reason she is finally coming forward. Felt the public and Maine should know what they are voting for - this is a rough summary.
@TubaToofpaste They don't want Platner to lose. They want a D vote in Maine. They just think there's a possibility that Platner becomes so toxic, that he not only loses his race, but becomes a national distraction and costs Dems other senate seats. So, they're being a bit cagey about him.
