“…and if you don’t have a sword, sell your cloak and buy one.” Which most theologians/scholars agree was a figure of speech, rather than a literal command.

The “I have not come to bring peace, but a sword” quote, if you take it literally without context, you’d think Jesus was about to wage an armed insurrection against Rome and his Apostles were training daily like soldiers.

Instead, the Apostles taught similar to Hindu & Buddhist ascetics. For the first centuries, Christians did as instructed. “Give to Caesar what is Caesar’s, and to God what is God’s.” Some got fed to lions.

So the full verse is: “Do not think that I have come to bring peace to the earth; I have not come to bring peace, but a sword. For I have come to set a man against his father, and a daughter against her mother, and a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law; and one’s foes will be members of one’s own household”

I’m pretty sure what he meant is: “When you realize your true nature & origins and stand firmly in it, the world will turn against you. I have not come to bring you all peace & comfort in your earthly lives, to bring unity between you & the world. I have come to separate wheat from tares, cleave spirit from matter, and bring back what’s been lost. You left the garden, consorted with the NPCs, gotten drunk on the wine of illusion… Now it’s time to pull out & come home.”

It wasn’t until Rome found it more profitable to hijack than suppress the growing movement that “In hoc signo vinces” (in this sign thou shalt conquer) became policy via physical/political conquest. And by that point Christianity was already corrupted.

It’s been my position that the Gospels themselves were corrupted versions containing fragments of the original teachings, spun to build up a myth to serve political ends, each Gospel tailored to their respective target demographics (Greeks, Jews, Pagans, Romans).

@TomMontalk @fringedotcom Clarification Tom: holy spirit is matrimonial and feminine and is more accurately the Mother or Muse/Sophia, Father/Mother/Child is also synonymous with negative positive and neutral charge. While all aspects are parts of a whole, the whole is made up of individual parts.
