Suella Braverman just said to her conference: “Don’t get me started on the lawyers.” She qualified and practiced as a Barrister. She became AG, and head of the Bar. UK law is a beacon. It matters to so many people. An ex AG rubbishing it demonstrates terrible values.
68% of people in poverty are in a working household. You can't claim on the one hand that 'work is the best route out of poverty' and then impose a real-terms pay cut on millions of workers struggling to make ends meet during a cost of living crisis.
Even if this lead were to halve, for some unanticipated reason, it's a vindication of Labour's professionalism, policy focus and discipline under Starmer (and those who backed him) ✊🏼✊🏼✊🏼
The victims of these crimes are not a piece of political rhetoric for her to lean on. She says modern slavery is being used to subvert immigration but the massive rise in last 5 years of British children in the system seems to be unnoticed by her tough act.
Well @SuellaBraverman wanted to talk about grooming gangs today. Funny because last week when it was found her department was taking 553 days to identify the victims (target is 45 days) she was less keen to talk.
Find it deeply disturbing that we have Suella Braverman in mainstream British politics. She is a Right Wing extremist. More suited to a nightly incitement show on GBNews or TalkTV. Shouldn’t be anywhere near power.
6 years ago #Braverman would have been regarded as an obnoxious weirdo on the fringes of the Conservative party. Now she’s not just main stream but Home Secretary. Another example of how the Conservatives have shifted away from the centre right to the hard right of U.K. politics

After the right turn, the U-turn. But Kwasi Kwarteng's panicked climbdown still leaves £43bn in tax cuts.
Growth won’t pay for them so spending cuts worse than austerity will - an amount equivalent to closing every English school.

Saying we should praise the Govt for listening and reversing it's divisive tax policy is like thanking someone for stopping hitting you with a baseball bat.
They wanted to deprive poor kids of school meals.
They wanted to give rich kids the top A-level grades.
They wanted to cut civil servants pay in the poorest areas.
They wanted to give £55K tax cuts to millionaires.
Every U-Turn they make just shows they'd hurt you if they could.
Can you help? The Avon and Somerset Police have told me that ‘racism is not a crime.’ @StagecoachSW falcon service has stopped picking up black and brown men at a certain bus stop near me. The drivers accept white passengers. This is apartheid in action. 1/4
And when they go to a food bank they should only request cake. I don't know know how many examples we need that this government is detached from the reality of the life most people live in this country.
