Just leaving the ER.
It was a long day. And a stunning amount of Covid.
Today I worked in an area that was temporarily converted into a makeshift ICU during the first COVID wave.
Here’s what different from then.
And also what challenges we’re facing with this surge in NYC: 🧵

I've been wanting to write this thread for a while. It has been inspired by hearing a common thought: why can't people just "listen"? If people just followed the rules, we wouldn't be in this mess. I think this is oversimplification of the problem with COVID: 1/
What happens to a secret nobody remembers?

Anti-racism is a mindset, way of being, and goal for a group of people in a room.
These are not interchangeable terms.
Hallmarks of a lifelong learner:
Showing less interest in defending your beliefs than exploring your beliefs
Being less concerned about rationalizing your decisions than growing from your mistakes
Paying as much attention to where your critics are right as why they're wrong
I don't know who needs to hear this today but that thing you're certain of is probably more complicated than you think and you should consider the possibility that you might be wrong
I've added a SARS-CoV2 timeline of exposure window/contagious window/symptoms with the major caveat of all of the current uncertainty as we learn more and more about this virus in real time. It now fits with the series I have below for seasonal pathogens we encounter. feedback?
3 behaviours to watch out for when making decisions during the #COVID19 pandemic, co-written with the great @ADetsky.
1. Denial of real events around you
2. Over-controlling your environment
3. Thirst for good news, at the peril of ignoring bad news
