@LokiJarson The republic that is rapidly militarizing and handing unchecked power to a single person, and that (spoiler warning for Episode 3) became a fascist galactic empire?
That republic?
@FairlightEx I found it funny how easy it is to lose Bond with other operators with her if you're a little careless about who is standing in the splash zone of her shock web.
Real in character for her too. I don't think she cares if Krab gets a few million volts.
@BoyishGirlie Yes, and when they are now desperately building a military, accecpting clones without asking questions and handing over emergency powers to a demigog, resulting in the collapse of the republic into a facist empire within years.
She's got a valid point. This is a Bad Sign.
@RazorwireRPG I mean, for the first 4 levels or so. Once you get past the early level hell, you can pretty much faceroll most encounters unless you made some really bad (low END) choices in character creation. By late game, you're pretty much taking a victory lap.
@casey_Payne23 Young Psycho Mantis did it.
That's it. That's the explanation for every bit of magic in MGS5 that isn't magical parasites that know French.
@casey_Payne23 If your second game is peace walker you're going to throw the entire series into the sun. It's not just incoherent, it's also not very fun.
@SicklyTheNinJa@MakeATweetGold In gameplay, you're seeing her fighting 'right' as opposed to just doing whatever the force says to not die. She was surprised by a bunch of battle droids popping out of boxes, surrounding her, and improvised desperately.
@Swiss_Knight She's making a reasonable point about a complex problem. The republic's militarization would ultimately destroy it and lead to the galactic empire, but the CIS was worse in a lot of ways.
@SicklyTheNinJa Focusing on just one weapon seems to be a pretty solid strat. Every gun has it's good bits, but the gun upgrades at the Den are REAL expensive and only apply to that one, so picking rifles, pistols, repeaters or long guns and handing them to everyone seems to be the way to go.
@AlchemicRaker Man, that chart is bad. Just really stupid, with a fun mix of synonym and unrelated words that have nothing to do with being a 'fighting man', and words for very specific types of warrior in a historical context absent from the game.
@Adam66569381@AlchemicRaker Yeah, that's when Squire Ben gets super brave, because the fastest way to deal with dogshit stat rolls was to just die and roll another character.
@Kartoffel_TPS@wanderingincode@berdyaboi I mean, you wouldn't use it at all because metal foil (steel, titanium, aluminum) isn't that strong and a bullet would tear right though it. A thin ductile sheet of Kevlar (stronger then ti alloy) won't stop a bullet either.
@xxxgulpoxxx@wanderingincode@berdyaboi Yep! Momentum is a preserved property, energy is not. A 1kg gun shooting a 5g bullet at 500 meters per second has a recoil of 2.5kg meters per second. The gun gains 3.125 joules of kinetic energy and the bullet would have a kinetic energy of 625 joules.
@AntonTlas@YoungerPope In Alien we see a flamethrower that looks like some kind of industrial weed burner/torch and a harpoon gun, and references to (in the novel) laser pistols.
It's unclear if they don't use the laser out of fear, or just think it wouldn't do anything. The lasers might be shit.
@YoungerPope Xenomorphs are terrfying for a lot of reasons. Making them bulletproof isn't needed to keep them scary, and Aliens does a great job of showing that even with weapons capable of easily killing a xenomorph, they are still a threat.
Even dead, they can still kill you.
