Assistant Professor of Structural flood resilience at @watertudelft Delft University of Technology. Interested in monitoring and modeling flood defences.
@bscholl This shows you really don’t see the future clear enough. Both wireless data and power transmission are advanced enough to continue thinking in new plugs. This is with the aim of reducing electronic waste. Are you still keeping your Nokia’s in drawers just in case ? 🫤
The Surge Barrier Of Louisiana
At the time of building, the 1.8 mile-long, $1.3 billion Lake Borgne Storm Surge Barrier was the largest civil-works, design-build construction project in the history of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.
After Santa ate too much cookie dough 🍪, one of his elf engineers modeled the North Pole’s product distribution process to determine if Santa could still fit down chimneys worldwide. 🎅 Read the story here: https://t.co/P5y2Lu1Ceu
Pluvial floods are nowadays more and more common to drag larger debris. Flood Resilience shall also focus on how to make it easier to clean up so that systems recover faster. #Resilience

This is the most interesting finding I’ve seen for river morphology and groundwater systems. It would be nice to separate the analysis for only Delta branching!
Our analysis of 1 million river junctions and 4.2 million groundwater wells across US shows that stream network branching angles vary systematically with the degree to which streams lose or gain water from nearby aquifers. Check our paper in #GRL for this fascinating discovery.
🌊 Flash #floods can be destructive both in urban and rural settings. New automated technologies and increased awareness of flood risk can make managing floods easier, more affordable, and help save lives. #AI4DRR

Oil and Gas are very important for our economy. Politicians who instrumentalize fossil fuels for politics, compromise the future energy supply and all its Nexus chain.
"Es perentorio contar con un plan de abastecimiento y confiabilidad, para el suministro y transporte del gas e ingresar nuevas fuentes de gas natural al sistema nacional".Argemiro Aguilar, comisión de Energía ACIEM #ENERCOL2023
I’m proud to call him dad but also proud of his views on the Colombian energy transition. Green radicalization is not necesary for a country that is on development and can really compromise our energetic relibility.
"El sector eléctrico tiene una matriz de generación limpia y el aporte real de esta transición energética al cambio climático es poco significativo": Argemiro Aguilar Comisión de Energía ACIEM en #ENERCOL2023
Video communications firm Zoom has begun ordering staff back to the office, saying that employees who work within 50 miles of an office should attend in person at least twice a week.
☔ Heavy rains in #Beijing & #Slovenia. Besides water, also cars and debris flow through streets.
When #Limburg flooded, trees, building rubble and caravans caused congestion at bridges. Daan Poppema is mimicking the flooding, throwing piles of debris into the flume.
