IG ARRESTS MITYANA PRINCIPAL HUMAN RESOURCE OFFICER OVER LOSS OF UGX 75M AND ABUSE OF OFFICE

@IGGUganda has arrested Mr. Mukiibi Hussein, 50, Principal Human Resource Officer (PHRO), Mityana District Local Government (DLG) for causing financial loss to the government and abuse of office.

According to investigations, Mr. Mukiibi, between January 2022 and December 2023, at Mityana DLG in Mityana District, being the PHRO OF Mityana DLG, irregularly processed and caused payment of unlawful salary arrears and salaries amounting to UGX 75,557,709 to Ms. Nuwagaba Agnes, Mr. Guma Jorum, Mr. Okodel Simon Peter, Mr. Chuchu Wamala, Ms. Namaganda Swafuwa, and Ms. Nandege Safina through manipulation of the Integrated Personnel and Payroll System (IPPS), knowing, or having reason to believe that his actions would and indeed caused financial loss of UGX 75,557,709 to @GovUganda .

He is already at the Anti-Corruption Court.

UNODC HEAD OF OFFICE PAYS COURTESY VISIT ON IGG

Today, Ms. Winnie Jeptum Bargoria, Head of Office of @UNODC in Uganda, led a delegation that paid a courtesy visit on the Inspector General of Government (IGG), Lady Justice Naluzze Aisha Batala.

The visit marked an important milestone in strengthening cooperation between the two institutions and reaffirmed their mutual commitment to enhancing collective efforts in the prevention and elimination of corruption.

The discussions centered on exploring innovative and collaborative approaches through which UNODC and the @IGGUganda can address the increasingly sophisticated and evolving nature of corruption.

Particular emphasis was placed on developing effective mechanisms to detect, prevent, and combat complex corruption schemes, while also strengthening public awareness initiatives to highlight the far-reaching social and economic consequences of corruption and foster a culture of integrity and accountability.

The engagement further strengthens the @IGGUganda commitment to building broad-based partnerships in the fight against corruption.

By fostering collaboration with key stakeholders, the @IGGUganda continues to advance its mission of promoting transparency, accountability, and integrity as essential pillars for improved public service delivery and sustainable national development.

The meeting was also attended by the Deputy IGG, @DrOkiria , @JGwaira, Director Research, Education and Advocacy, Mr. Joseph Pincywa, Manager Strategy, Policy and Planning, and Hajjat Munira Ali, Manager Strategic Partnerships and Public Relations, and Mr. Muhammad Mwasa, Personal Assistant to the IGG.
