Unable to sell 'Deep in the Maze of Summer Woods,' (c1907) which had been shown as his star exhibit at the Royal Academy in 1908, Rex Vicat Cole destroyed much of the picture - only a fragment remains: his wife and son walking through a clearing at Fittleworth in Sussex.
🚨A call for help🚨🙏🥺
My name is Amirat Ahmed, I’m a 24-year-old final-year student at the Federal University of Lokoja, Kogi State. I’m from Ilorin, Kwara State. I am just a young girl trying to build a future through education and hard work.
But on November 18, 2024, my life changed forever.
I had just finished work for the day and was standing by the roadside on Old Jebba Road, Sango, Ilorin, waiting to catch a Keke Napep home like I do every day after work. Out of nowhere, a Keke pulled up near me. Before I could react, men jumped out and poured a burning liquid all over my face and body.
It wasn’t until much later that I realized it was acid.
The pain was unbearable, I couldn’t scream, I couldn’t touch my face, everything was burning.
Strangers rushed to my aid and put me on a bike to a nearby clinic. But even there, the nurses said they couldn’t treat acid burns. I gave them my parents’ phone numbers, and thankfully, they were able to come.
Later that night, my parents rushed me to the General Hospital, only to be told that the hospital was on strike. We were turned away. Told to seek help at a private hospital instead.
I can’t put into words the fear I felt… the pain, the helplessness, the confusion. I never imagined I’d become a victim whose face and body would be scarred forever by people I never knew, for reasons I still don’t understand.
Right now, I am in critical need of medical care, including surgeries and treatments to recover from the damage caused by this brutal acid attack. I want to finish school, reclaim my life, and heal, but, I can not do this alone.
Please, I am begging for your help. Every donation, every share, every word of support brings me closer to healing. I never thought I’d have to ask the world like this, but I have no choice.
Please help me survive. Help me heal. Help me live.
From the bottom of my heart, thank you.
BREAKING NEWS: Jigawa State Governor, Umar Namadi, has signed the state Hisbah Board Bill into law, establishing the Hisbah Board as a statutory body to bring greater social order and moral discipline in the state.
liking other girls pictures while you have a whole girlfriend is not cool & it has nothing to do with her being insecure or anything.. no one wants to hear "oh yeah her man likes my story all the time" that’s so embarrassing & you shouldn’t put your girl in a situation like that.
#OTD 85 years ago Sumner Welles announced the United States🇺🇸 refusal to recognise the illegal Soviet occupation of the Baltic states.
Nonrecognition of illegal occupation is as relevant today. We will never recognise Russia’s illegal annexation of any part of #Ukraine 🇺🇦.
"My journey within these walls was inspiring. I learned. I belonged. I grew. This phase of my life has changed me forever."
