There is a huge scandal brewing, and it doesn't seem like local media is putting all the pieces together quite yet. But they're close. Dow Constantine just got a massive raise and a $30,000 bonus from @SoundTransit for delivering a light rail extension in time for the World Cup in Seattle.
Well, as reported earlier this month, that extension was killing federally protected fish. But according to new reporting from @KOMONews, Sound Transit knew way back in December 2025 that the extension was electrocuting fish and did nothing about it.
"The transit agency said it only learned of the dead fish in August. Alex Quibell, an electrician who worked on the Crosslake Connection, said photos of their carcasses were shown to members of the Sound Transit team in December, but the warnings went nowhere."
Divers wet back months later and noticed the problem got worse. There were dead fish in PILES.
"We knew about it, it was brought up to Sound Transit, and it was just dead silence."
"We brought this up, there are fish dying, there are piles of dead fish on the ground."
Why did the warnings go nowhere?
Could it be that Dow's bonus and raise were riding on opening the line? Did Sound Transit sweep the problem under the rug to meet their deadline?
Keep in mind, protecting fish in Washington state is serious (and expensive) business. We've ripped out millions of dollars of infrastructure in recent years as part of a court-ordered culvert replacement program that has cost taxpayers OVER $5.2 billion.
@NintendoEurope So excited to get to play Ocarina of Time and Windwaker again!
Any maybe I’ll finally beat Majora’s Mask (I never did rent it from Blockbuster long enough to get through the whole thing 😮💨)
@ffaebi@IterIntellectus Agreed, the platform takes a chance at feeding me posts that I haven’t shown interest in before and the author gets penalized?
I guess from now on I won’t click “not interested” on content that looks genuinely good with real effort, but simply not my thing
@japan_nobunaga “I don't remember anything about the tree. I remember that he was happy.”
That’s my favorite part of the story, but in reality everyone was happy to get in as much talking time before you left.
I really hope if and when fraud is discovered, this results in fines, arrests, and most importantly, making sure our tax dollars are spent efficiently with full transparency. There should be 100% bipartisan support for an effort to eliminate fraud because it affects everyone, regardless of their political affiliation.
Under President Trump, we are unleashing the most aggressive federal anti-fraud efforts in American history. We won't rest until we root out every bit of fraud infecting our government and screwing over taxpayers.
More coming tomorrow. Stay tuned.
🚨BREAKING NEWS 🚨
Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS) has been formally renamed...
Polyendocrine Metabolic Ovarian Syndrome (PMOS)
The change was driven by input from more than 50 leading academic organizations, along with feedback from more than 14,000 women with the condition. A new paper in The Lancet details the change.
This is a huge win, as for decades, the name "polycystic ovary syndrome" has been misleading.
The cysts on the ovaries have always been a downstream symptom, and not some spontaneous event.
The new name finally puts the words endocrine and metabolic where they belong: front and center.
PMOS encompasses multiple interacting endocrine abnormalities, rather than an isolated ovarian disorder.
From the paper:
"insulin resistance and compensatory hyperinsulinaemia are present in 85% of affected individuals, and 75% of lean women with PMOS, amplifying androgen secretion and disrupting steroidogenesis."
Even in women at a "healthy" weight, the metabolic dysfunction is present in three out of four cases.
PMOS is a metabolic problem expressing itself reproductively.

Many people are asking what they can do to help Washington.
Instead of following the clearly defined process to change the constitution, Pederson’s plan has been to force the State Supreme Court to overturn existing case law.
It is unacceptable to legislate using the judicial branch and 5 of these seats are up for election this fall.

not sure folks really understand what this means.
it means the door is now open to wealth and property seizure via any unconstitutional tax scheme the washington legislature chooses to enact.
there is zero recourse, because as the court has shown here, it will rubber stamp each new tax, reject all arguments and lawsuits against it, and prevent the people from exercising their right to vote it down.
game over.
It’s refreshing to read an article from the Seattle Times that is critical of the shortcomings of the politicians they promoted. It’s certainly not fair when companies and individuals use loopholes and tricks to avoid paying their fair share of taxes that could be used to improve the community that built them and helped them become successful. But that isn’t always the case, and not everyone making money needs to be demonized and “punished” when it’s done in an ethical way, especially if their successful business employs hundreds or thousands of workers.
It isn’t a rich vs poor issue. It’s resource management and a corruption problem. It’s a delicate system where businesses provide a product or service, people spend money on these businesses, and people earn money working at these businesses. We need government officials that support businesses, ensure they pay a fair share of taxes, and weed out corruption and wasteful spending. If you chase away all the high earners, there will be nothing left to fund infrastructure and government programs. Finding the right balance is the only way to ensure society thrives.
They say a gaffe is when a politician tells the truth. Seattle Mayor Katie Wilson saying "bye" to the wealthy upset about taxes is not the kind of truth Seattle needs right now, writes columnist Danny Westneat. https://t.co/ZwQID7sfIv
Over the past 34 years the average Chinese man became, on average, 3 inches taller than his grandfather.
But entire population can't rewrite its DNA in 35 years.
So what made them grow so fast? The answer might surprise you.
