20 years ago I was working at MTV to activate those who were left out of the political process. Fast forward to now & we have built this campaign to accomplish that same goal in Boston—to build political power in Black & Brown communities. #bospoli
November 5th, #4 on the ballot
@CityOfBoston I just watch the will of the people again be denied!! The people obviously does not trust current structure of accountability. Docket #1274 Thank you @juliaforboston, @ErinforBoston,@VoteWorrell for votes.
Boston Public Schools leaders are exploring significant changes to the admissions policies for the district’s three prestigious exam schools. https://t.co/dYhGzjfq0F
@Tweetorelli@NotoriousVOG Thank you. As a community organizer- my love for the people keeps me grounded. I am grateful that I get to fight for a living.
@NotoriousVOG@Tweetorelli Thank YOU, @NotoriousVOG. you create real opportunities to meaningfully connect with our residents - we lean in - instead of running away from discomfort, we show up and transform anger into action, we build people power not political machines. We are loyal to those we serve. LFG
A new participant is joining the on-going fight over the future of White Stadium, with @YawuMiller reporting on a new letter from @BostonNAACP1911 calling for the project to halt until 4 demands are met. Read more from @FlipsideBoston: #bospoli#mapoli

I’m seeing a lot of frustration from Mattapan residents who had no idea the Blue Hill Avenue meeting even happened yesterday.
This is exactly why we need effective neighborhood liaisons and a civic engagement department that truly values the voices of our communities.
Accountability matters.
The @CityOfBoston has the tools from text alerts to robocalls to notify every resident when major projects or proposals are happening in their neighborhood.

@bostonherald@JoshKraftBoston is right. Last year we did a tour with @juliaforboston after receiving complaints from residents & we found an entire encampment in one of the basements, elderly folks living with mold & rodents, we need new leadership across our agencies.
And for the record, public testimony is usually only 2 minutes. We are planning to host a 2nd hearing solely dedicated to public testimony. And we will host in the chamber so we can have folks join via zoom.
Yup, I've been on this issue so thank you @BosLeonRivera for uplifting
@bostonadvocate I agree & I hate this format. Community voices should be prioritized in these spaces. Also, @juliaforboston was one of the very few in 2022 making any efforts to engage the community on this project, the proof is in the tweets ⬇️
This is from 1/21/22 ✅
@BOSCityCouncil Just watched yesterday’s with BTD. @juliaforboston great questions and don’t stop with how White Stadium is going to work. Plan makes no sense and when you hear “as soon as possible “ think of how long it took the Big Dig
I love to see everyday people doing MORE with a lot less and demonstrating to @BostonSchools the difference smart targeted investments make!! Way to go @BosLeonRivera you continue to show #allmeansall of us what is possible!!
Folks need to take notes from those leading the way!
I don’t think we need anymore tax increases. We’ve been able to obtain small grants from private foundations in the past to do parent engagement work and we have been able to do some amazing things with very little money.
some of the things we have been able to accomplish:
- strengthening parent councils in over 5 schools to ensure parent voices are at the table
- improved crumbling infrastructure in a few schools
- increased access to clean drinking water in over 100 schools by working in collab with their facilities team
- held a number of parents rights trainings for families with children with special needs
- working in collaboration with BPS anti-bullying department to ensure that families and students were aware of the resources available
- Collaborating with family liaisons to ensure they have access to the resources & tos to serve families
I think it’s just a matter of having the right folks willing to do the work in these spaces ✅
Yesterday, I had the honor of attending a special luncheon at Cesaria’s Restaurant, organized by the Community Healing Response Network at BPHC, to honor & support survivors of homicide & gun violence. It was a truly beautiful event! ❤️🕊️🙏#healing#hope#trust#love#community

@NotoriousVOG@BOSCityCouncil Facts!! Although I am now on the inside and still very much feel and share the same frustrations, we are all experiencing these days. We need to be more accountable to the people instead of political power brokers!!! So much to do. Thank you for the clarification!!!
@NotoriousVOG We pushed to pause white stadium, and unfortunately, that push failed to pass on the council. Curious, where is this feedback stemming from? What have I failed to do? Happy to be held accountable would be helpful to learn where I have fallen short? Thank you for your feedback
Shout out to former city councilor Kendra Lara for your leadership- because of YOU, the city is now implementing the civilian flagger initiative that YOU led us through.
