The rest of the world is not shocked that America is coming apart. It is shocked at the speed. A few short years, and a country of three hundred and forty million has produced roughly zero people willing to stand up in a room and say that this is complete and utter nonsense.

Look at the tape. Cabinet ministers taking turns to thank the leader for the privilege of existing. Applause on cue. Men who spent decades lecturing the world about tyranny now clapping like trained seals, each one measuring exactly how loudly he must praise in order not to be the next name mentioned.

Pyongyang does the same thing, just with worse suits.

And everyone knows why. Speak up, and the machinery notices you, and somewhere near the Mexican border there is a facility with your family’s name on the paperwork. So nobody speaks. Everybody claps.

Rescue shelters across the UK are beyond full.
