Today, we celebrate young people.
Many have grown up through crisis after crisis. Yet, wherever I go, I meet young people who still choose to participate, engage and believe that democracy can deliver.
On International Youth Day, I want to thank all those who contribute to the Council of Europe, as youth delegates, activists, trainees and young professionals. Your commitment strengthens our Organisation and Europe's democratic future.
This is not a football story.

The FIFA World Cup 2026 has raised one question after another.
The Council of Europe has helped turn past sporting crises into binding rules. It's time to begin the third half and strengthen the integrity of sport.

The Pro Merito Medal of @coe has honoured judges, political leaders, scholars and architects — but never before an entrepreneur.
Proud to award it to someone who builds Europe quite literally: Roland Mack, founder of @europa_park.
Perhaps one day a small Council of Europe corner might appear there. :)

The seventy-fifth anniversary of the European Convention on Human Rights.
As I hold it in my hands, I don’t see a piece of ancient history. The #ECHR is one of those rare texts that does not say what the world is — but what it could become.
