We are heartbroken by the killing of five Sudanese Red Crescent Society volunteers in Bara, North Kordofan.
They were serving their communities bringing care, courage, and compassion to people in need.
Neutrality does not mean silence. As the worldโs largest humanitarian network, our message is clear: violence against humanitarian workers must stop.
We strongly reiterate our call for unwavering respect for the Red Cross and Red Crescent emblems and the crucial humanitarian services they represent.
Our thoughts are with the families, friends, and colleagues of the SRCS volunteers, and with everyone continuing to serve communities in Sudan.
We stand with you and we will continue to #ProtectHumanity.
๐ Heartbroken & Horrified
Our hearts are shattered by the killing of 5 Sudanese Red Crescent volunteers in Bara, North Kordofan on 27 October. They were clearly identified delivering food.
This is unacceptable.
Since the conflict began, we have lost 21 @SRCS_SD colleagues.
We demand unwavering respect for the Red Crescent emblem and for all humanitarians. Their compassion is not a target.
@IFRC sends its deepest condolences to their families. #Sudan #NotTarget

Day 2 of the @IFRCAfrica Regional DRR Climate Action Learning Retreat
๐Imperial Resort Beach Hotel, Entebbe
Day 2 is lit with vibrant colours, patterns, and fabrics as participants of the Africa Regional DRR & Climate Action Learning Retreat proudly donned their traditional attire, a true celebration of the rich and diverse cultures that define our African continent.
But this is more than a display of heritage. Itโs a powerful reminder that our shared identity is our strength in the fight against the climate crisis.
As DRR and Climate Change Adaptation practitioners, we bring more than technical expertise. We carry with us traditions, values, and community wisdom that ground our solutions in the realities of the people we serve.
Throughout this retreat, we are not only exchanging knowledge and strategies, we are also celebrating the cultural roots that strengthen our collective mission.
