I’m a homeschool dad who loves literature.

These days it feels like quality children’s books are almost nonexistent. So much of what’s published for kids is thin, trendy, or talks down to them.

It didn’t used to be this way. Children’s literature once carried higher expectations. And I firmly believe our children will rise or sink to the expectations we set for them. We need more stories that equip young readers with hope, wonder, and a moral compass. To paraphrase G.K. Chesterton, the truth at the heart of these stories is not that dragons exist—any child already knows that—but that dragons can be beaten.

My goal here is simple: highlight strong children’s versions of the Great Books and enduring classics—the kind that actually prepare kids to read the real thing later. I’ll also add in some complementary history, science, and other books.

I’ll share the ones my own kids have loved.

First up soon: an excellent retelling of the Odyssey.

Ho boy. The court in the IRS/anti-weaponization case has issued a 56-page order indicating its extreme dissatisfaction. Relying on the 35-Former Federal Judge amicus, it revokes its settlement. And it refers Acting AG Blanche & Associate AG Woodward for discipline. I'm skeptical!
