Week 3 into my masters in Health Psychology, and it has been overwhelming so far 🫣 I’m in the process of securing a placement with @TownBreak, having talks with possible supervisors about dissertation ideas… Crazy times! Luckily knitting keeps me calm and going 🧶
I start my masters in less than a month, crazy! 🫣 Last day of being a full-time care assistant then to Finland tomorrow for a wee holiday. Looking forward to studying again and working part-time on the side
Super happy to have received and accepted an unconditional offer to study Health Psychology at Masters level 😊 My journey here at Stirling thus continues!
Tää oli tosi mielenkiintoinen keskustelu, @juliasangervo n pohdinnat ja @SinnuSofia n kyky toimia podcast hostina toimii 👌 jäin podcastin seuraajaksi https://t.co/Ne3jTVcQY0
@sbkaufman I love this. I think how grown up someone is is simply a measure of their ability to regulate their emotions in response to environmental stimuli. I think a big part of the problem is our lack of ritualistic transition in turning adolescents into adults
@sbkaufman It’s actually impossible to imagine a good life consisting *entirely* of comfort. The fact that so much of modern morality pivots on this notion of comfort is mind-boggling.
We're teaching children that if you don't like how someone else makes you feel, that other person is bad. No questions asked. Or if someone says something you dislike, you should stomp on them. Quickly and immediately.
This is such rubbish.
Instead, we ought to teach children to be responsible for their own emotional reactions and to regulate themselves so they can be productive members of society-- productively disagreeing, productively fighting injustices, and productively listening to a diversity of perspectives in the service of getting closer to the truth, not avoiding all discomfort like the plague.
Minä pidän ihmisistä joilla on avoin mieli.
Ihmisistä jotka pystyvät sanomaan: Ai?
Niinkö? Vai niin. En tiennytkään.
Tuota en ole tullut ajatelleeksi.
