Answer to why there are so many office ladies in Raffles Place wearing Lululemon:

Singapore don’t have the same “stay until the boss leaves” problem. Most Singaporeans can leave when the work is done.

Our office culture is also relatively chillax (maybe weather?), no need make up can go work. Try pulling that in Tokyo or Seoul and see what happens, especially if you’re a gal.

As for the Lululemon: it’s because we save a ton of time on commuting. Try travelling from the Jakarta suburbs to SCBD every day. I’d rank Jakarta higher than Singapore on that overworked chart if you include commute.

I’m obviously not promoting overwork. But relative to our regional peers, come on lah.

That's why our top people prefer to leave.

The issue is Indo companies can't afford higher salaries, because of low profit margins.

The only solution to stop our brain drain is to make it easier for top Indos to start their own companies

Ease regulation, remove bureaucracy, and champion local founders.
