@frank_oconnor@judesherry@anoisagency Amazing that, indeed! There are issues at local authority level, as also evidenced by low rates of dealing with vacant and derelict houses and ludicrous boarding up of just-lived-in houses as "voids" - while I hate to see more power centralised, this needs action from the top.
@HotelHoppaLHR Hi guys, where’s the H2D to hotels and car hire? Due at 1649, 1724, neither showed, still waiting with kid… and where’s a phone number to call?
@helenconnor16@RahenyCoEd That’s sad re the ET NS. I did not know they’d had to let teachers go. Does that mean that the demand limit for that model was reached, or it’s about location..? Anyway, plenty of choice, including long-serving Springdale.
@RahenyCoEd@helenconnor16 The extra capacity maybe simply not needed for the walking distance area. It is a very big primary junior, as these numbers show.
@RahenyCoEd@helenconnor16 That’s interesting. But Scoil Ide took about the same as *all the others with numbers put together*. 108 kids chosen to go there. A vote of confidence, I think.
@RahenyCoEd Fair to involve broader community. But I think it’s also reasonable that to start a process which affects 600+ current families, whether it succeeds or not, and all future school-goers, the petitioners have at least say 20% of the families agreeing the request. How many are you?
@RahenyCoEd That’s the thing - it’s not about a new school in isolation. This would change all the schools, permanently, and create a whole new way to use the campus. Is there a detailed plan for how this would work? It’s a huge change project, and a big change to impose on the children.
@RahenyCoEd Good to be clear. But rather than kick off a process which could impact all, in schools which have worked well for decades, surely broader consultation *first* would have been better / fairer. How many parents (of what, 600+ families in the schools?) launched this request?
@KRC_ETSS Tricky, yes. But beyond multi-faith Mount Temple and comprehensive De La Salle between Raheny and Kilbarrack, there are nearby non-dem. Grange, the Donahies, and there was also Greendale (closed for lack of demand)... Not easy to build a strong new school, more than a building.
@judesherry Shocking - beyond Orwell territory. Without conviction but with convict-like provisions. How can anyone even come up with this type of thing?
@klillington Seriously... But as your next Tweet highlights, this is not an isolated failure, and highlights a wrong attitude to what makes for healthy watercourses and wildlife habitats.
@p02462599@crazyhouseprice It’s a good joke, but no. There’s a lot between, as a property agency would know well. Greater Coolock passes on to Balgriffin, Kinsealy, the outskirts of Portmarnock…
@55Lacuna@Database2000 It should have been vertical. But yes, I mis-wrote. Well-caught! I can’t help imagining some little tike rolling along and hitting that thing.
@55Lacuna@Database2000 Rubbish. There are some things that are just not ok, even briefly. The accidents a vertical metal structure fully crossing a footpath could cause are really serious, notably for a child or visually impaired person. This is actually criminal. The driver should have parked roadside
@roqueandrolle@55Lacuna@Database2000 At least four hours, poor - but overnight, that’s shocking. Towing and criminal charges seem proportionate. I’m surprised and disappointed the Gardai weren’t all over this one.
@PhillipHelbig@petertgallagher Professorial salaries are something else altogether, tenured senior academics do well, and with decent pensions - and medical consultant professors hold among the highest salaries in Ireland. This has no connection to postdoc pay, lack of tenure security, and conditions.
@caulmick@ferghalthehack@IrishMirror I think this comes close to a definition of insanity, and contempt for the rest of us. In business, academia, sports, etc., expenses have to be proven (pretty strictly nowadays - a lost receipt can mean no repayment), so what is this?
