We believe that children should be educated in a mixed-sex environment. The BoMs of Scoil Áine(girls)+Assaim(boys) will not introduce co-education. We have asked the Archdiocese to transfer patronage and to provide a co-ed mulitdenominational community national school for Raheny.
There are 6,800 primary school places within 2.3km of Raheny. 245 of those are in multidenominational schools. This is 3.6% of total.
We need more places in mulitdenominational schools in this area.
@HenryMcKean@NewstalkFM@PatKennyNT A multidenominational school (JI-6th class) alongside a Catholic junior school (JI-2nd class) and a Catholic senior school (3rd-6th class). All 3 schools co-ed. This is would be a logical, inclusive outcome from reconfiguration in Raheny. @Education_Ire@dublindiocese
We are hearing reports of heated exchanges at meetings on a divestment programme involving North Dublin Schools in Raheny. Join us in Raheny where parents give their honest view on what they want for the future their kids schools. @NewstalkFM@PatKennyNT
As part of the reconfiguration for diversity programme we would welcome the establishment of a community national school in Raheny. This school could stand beside a junior and senior Catholic school with all 3 schools being co-educational.

The 2022-23 admission figures demonstrate that the Catholic school in Raheny is undersubscribed. The mulitdenominational schools in Killester and Kilbarrack are oversubscribed. We believe that there is a need for a multidenominational school in Raheny.

@DavidAMRyan@JwDoyle6 We understand that the proposal will be for one school to be divested with 2 schools left under Catholic patronage. Consequently all 3 schools will become co-ed.
@JwDoyle6 We don't believe that it is working well. We would prefer co-education for our kids. Hopefully all parents will be allowed to engage with the facilitator. We would like prospective parents to also have a voice in this.
@JwDoyle6 This would result in 2 schools remaining under Catholic patronage. All schools would become co-ed. This is what our group has asked for as we believe that co-education is the preferred model for most parents + a multidenominational patron a preference for significant minority.
@JwDoyle6 The request was from a group of parents who are unhappy with the current set-up. It is the role of the facilitator to now engage with the the community. If there is sufficient demand then one school will be divested to a multidenominational patron.
As per the 2021-2022 figures only 12.4% of primary school children attend single-sex schools. Most of these are in Dublin. We believe that education in a mixed-sex environment is better for our kids.

https://t.co/XPu1RC3MOE The situation in KRC where all secondary schools are religious, where boys and girls attend separately and where two out of three boys leave the area for secondary, compared to only one in five girls, at least deserves to be addressed by the Minister.
Many thanks to @OCallaghanCian for raising the issue of the need for a non religious, coeducational secondary school in the Killester Raheny Clontarf area. The Minister completely ignores the questions in her reply so we’ll keep demanding action https://t.co/9AihXjl5ok
https://t.co/WTM3WHiLRK 📻Paddy Monahan from our Secondary School Campaign spoke to Donie Tarrant on Near FM to explain the findings of our parent survey and to highlight the demographic need for a multi denominational, co-educational secondary school in the KRC SPA.
The campaign for a non-religious secondary school for the area that boys and girls can attend together has made the front page of this week’s Northside People. It’s an excellent article that details the massive support for this initiative from local parents.
Many thanks to Cian O’Callaghan TD for this excellent contribution in the Dáil yesterday in support of a coeducational non-denominational secondary school for the Killester Raheny Clontarf area. Let’s keep up the pressure! https://t.co/ilSD8QcWPk
I emailed @Education_Ire in February with a very simple question about how much rent is being paid to the Catholic Church for schools that reconfigure to the ETB. Despite a couple of reminders, there has been no response. I'm not sure why this is such a secret? #edchatie
