How to use the DefiLlama ChatGPT PlugIn, turn ChatGPT into your personal DeFi analyst, and save yourself hours of time researching.

First, shout out to @0xKofi for creating this awesome plugin.

To use the plugin, you’ll need ChatGPT Plus, which costs $20/month. Once you have ChatGPT Plus, go through these steps to install the plugin:

1. Select GPT-4
2. Ensure that you have “Plugins” selected
3. Go to the Plugin Store
4. Search for DefiLlama
5. Install

Great, now you’re ready to begin.

The DefiLlama plugin can pull TVL and Bridge Flows for Chains and TVL, Fees, and Revenue for Protocols. It can also pull information on yield pools.

In this case, we’ll ask ChatGPT to find chains which have been growing recently. I used this prompt:

“You are a DeFi analyst.

Your task is to use DefiLlama to compile the following information:

The 5 chains with the largest TVL increases by $ amount in the past 7 days. Create a table displaying these 5 chains, their new TVL, their old TVL, their TVL $ change over the past 7 days, their TVL % change over the past 7 days, and their bridge flows.

The 5 chains with the largest % TVL increases in the past 7 days. Exclude any chains with under $1 Million in TVL. Create a table displaying these 5 chains, their new TVL, their old TVL, their TVL $ change over the past 7 days, and their TVL % change over the past 7 days.”

BOOM. ChatGPT spits out tables concisely summarizing this information.

And that’s just the start of what you can do with this plugin. ChatGPT can’t fully replace the research process, but it can make you more efficient.
