It's amazing to have developed an idea into a real life International Symposium.
December 2024 marks the 20th anniversary of one of the most catastropic events in living memory.
We have a stellar lineup of speakers from all 4 corners of the world who will be travelling to London, at their own expense, to share their knowledge and insights. The symposium will be opened by the immediate past president of the ICE and with represenation of Indonesia.
Thank you to Paul Gambaccini for the lovely welcome @JoeAllenWC2 and an amazing night with Bernie Taupin, discussing all those lovely songs with @eltonofficial - a life in music ❤️
As part of our work to help optimise the design for the now officially opened South Harbour at the @PortofAberdeen, we built a scale model in our labs. Our time-lapse video below shows how we went about building it.

I am really excited to be presenting next week at the 3rd International Workshop on Waves, Storm Surges, and Coastal Hazards. The workshop is hosted by @NotreDame and is convened by my co-advisor, Dr. Joannes Westerink of @CEEES_ND.
Stay tuned for my talk info! #waves#boulders
Flooding is already expected to be dangerous enough with this incoming bomb cyclone and pineapple express, but with at least 4 more additional atmospheric rivers possible over the next 10 days, I'm getting very concerned about extreme flooding potential, especially in NorCal.
