It was good few weeks in Latvia 🇱🇻

Every time I come back, it's harder to leave. And I get why people come back for good after years of being away - family, friends, memories. The air, the nature, the whole vibe is different. All that pulls you back.

It has many problems but I'm hopeful that most of them will be tackled (eventually).

But for now, there's still much to explore in this world 🌎

Feels like I'm the only one not sitting at my laptop pretty much all day and burning tokens with Fable.

I think Fable usage will switch to credit-based tomorrow(?) so everyone is making the most of it.

But cannot force myself to use it just for the sake of using it. And stuff I work on is not that sophisticated lol.

Am I missing something everyone knows but I don't?

I used Fable 5 to port Command & Conquer: Generals Zero Hour to the iPhone and iPad!

This is the actual 2003 engine compiled for ARM64 natively, no emulator.

Campaign, skirmish, Generals Challenge all work with touch controls built for an RTS.

I can totally see why this man is in tears - because his expectations of drugs, gangs everywhere, shootings etc. were crushed and his reality shifted.

I lived almost 3 years in the States and it was amazing!

People were lovely, the social life there is 👌, food is great, the cities and landscapes are amazing, it opened loads of opportunities for us.

Mind you - we lived in Baltimore.

The Wire, heroin capital of US, gangs, corruption - we heard all that before we moved so we were shit scared about how our life will be there.

But we had a great experience, met great people we still are in touch, broadened our minds about American culture etc etc. And it was very cool to travel around neighbouring States, small towns, and experience their hospitality.

Of course there was some dodgy and scary stuff but it happens everywhere.

I recommend everyone to go to US and experience it themselves now.

Just found out that hotels[dot]com brought back their "Buy 10 Get 1 Free" rewards scheme 🙃

I remember when they started the migration to OneKey scheme to consolidate stuff, which is the reason I stopped using them (and many others I think), and it was a big blow to loyal customers.

Glad they reversed it after 3(?) years.

Why change something this is very popular, has a huge loyal customer base and is probably one of the reasons why new folks join?

I understand it's a volume business but these types of things surely are stress-tested?

🚂 Orient Express update

Been on/off this one, but here's the result of about 10 hours of building - a completed locomotive.

Still got the tender, passenger car and track to go. Tender's up next.

I might need to get more space because I'm hooked.

Progress after about 6 hours of sorting and building.

The locomotive is coming together 🚂

Had to test all of the electric parts too and they're working well.

Overall, everything is there. I think only two pieces missing that I should be able to find in my spares.

Still loads to do...

And while building, I managed to finish the 8 series long "I will find you" TV show on Netflix. Highly recommend 👌
