Doctor: you’re not capable of working
Politicians: yes you are
Virologist: you really don’t want to be infected with SARS2 repeatedly
Politicians: it’s fine don’t concern yourself
Climatologists: we need to stop burning fossil fuels or billions will die
Politicians: drill away
The hardest thing about COVID isn’t the science.
It’s the invoice.
Accepting the evidence means paying for years of miscalculations, bad assumptions, social conformity, and public certainty.
Most people would rather dispute the bill than pay it.
Every hero eventually disappoints someone.
Not because they’re evil.
Not because they’re stupid.
Because changing your mind has a cost.
To acknowledge that COVID still poses serious long-term risks would require many people to revisit years of assumptions, decisions, public statements, and personal behavior.
That’s not just updating a belief.
That’s rewriting part of your identity.
And for most people, denial is cheaper than reconstruction.

In cancer, patients are often taught to be optimistic, smile, and put on hope, as though that will shrink their tumors. It does not. It invalidates suffering and inflicts blame on those experiencing progression. The phony optimism culture persists today.
We are thrilled that this year’s leakweek collaboration has expanded to 5 nonprofits!

“During the darkest days of the AIDS crisis we buried our friends in the morning, we protested in the afternoon, and we danced all night, and it was the dance that kept us in the fight because it was the dance we were fighting for.” – Dan Savage
Having a connective tissue disorder that went from inconvenient to LIFE-THREATENING after two Covid infections because Covid eats up connective tissue, then having to explain and defend wearing respirator to MEDICAL PROFESSIONALS, is the definition of systemic failure.
As we begin #SpinalCSFLeakAwarenessWeek, we are honoured to share that Canada’s capital, the City of Ottawa, has officially proclaimed June 1–7, 2026 as Spinal CSF Leak Awareness Week.

Positive thinking can’t cure disability
You can’t “try harder” to be better
You aren’t “failing” because you got sick
People who believe they will never become disabled or that they will “try harder” than us are denying reality
Disability can and does come for almost everyone

There is something seriously wrong with capitalist societies. Nobody needs a billion dollars. Tax them out of existence!

Ngl when I was young I thought things were bad because solutions were complicated, and now I’m older and realize things are bad because the solutions are often simple, but they would inconvenience affluent people, or those who aspire to be, and religious fanatics.

Seeing this becoming more and more of a problem, so just to be clear, being too disabled to work is never a privilege and certainly doesn't mean you "don't have to work". The people who don't have to work are rich people. They're landlords & capitalists, not disabled people.
if you are safely housed, monied, and/or happily partnered and taken care of with shared pandemic precautions you are living with privileges that afford you space for grace for those psychologically, spiritually, and physically enduring eugenics without safeguards.
Stop asking what happened to the kids to make them act like they are. We did that, we fucked them up with Covid and won’t even mention it by name. That fucked them up. The real question should be what fucked us up so much that we could just do that to them.
