@now_ats@nocontextmemes Also these kinds of mimicry tend to pop out very obviously, for example there are flowers that mimic female bugs so that males can be attracted for pollination, the flower stands out a lot in color, these leaves all are green and blend together
@now_ats@nocontextmemes Usually creatures that mimic something for defense look like that something as a whole, this looks like as if a plant is made of a dozen tiny birdy shapes
@sparrowincrisis Wait how did it survive to adulthood? Usually these animals have trouble functioning as one individual and it's a reason they die as babies
@CoachSchoen22@nocontextmemes Like you said, after the "add time"....it explains everything yes, even gives reasoning behind the evolution of features, "God just had fun" is a lazy way to get the question out of the way
Also calling evolution like if it's a religion and not science is ridiculous, grow up
@nocontextmemes Also it's native to Australia there are no hummingbirds there so it would be weird to mimick something the insects don't even know what it is in order to be scared
@RealestMemes_ flies are so diverse and as a combo have huge role of pollination and decomposition, arguably them going extinct would cause even more major consequences than mosquitoes i actually dare to say flies as a whole have even more roles than bees in favour of nature
@IsgarEthan@RealestMemes_ literally the only thing i hate about mosquitoes is that they DO FLY IN MY EARS especially when im trying to sleep
these mfs evolved silent flight to secretly drink our blood and yet they fly next to my ear...bro drink my blood idc just let me sleep
@JPnovelFan09@CRzvYbqXxjHSQpp I don't see why a slender snout is more advantageous against sauropods if anything I'd expect a bulkier snout for more biting force would be useful to get through enough meat with one good bite
@ginovanta@SmashAssemble similarly a gorgonopsid is a synapsid but not a mammal, it is an animal of it's own "category" like squamates are compared to birds
@ginovanta@SmashAssemble they are basically an entirely unique group of animals
let me use an example:
this guy is a synapsid and the only synapsids today are mammals
diapsids though include turtles, squamates, birds AND crocodilians, a gecko is diapsid but it is not a bird
@daeartes@TPixel55@Lux__yx@15DNCT@gatorfanggg back to the calling non dinosaur things dinosaur, yes, sure you can do it to get a point across a person not familiar with these things but when its a talk with a more paleo knowledged person like you, who knows what is and what not dinosaur, expect correction
@daeartes@TPixel55@Lux__yx@15DNCT@gatorfanggg but they are either way part of theropoda scientifically and its clearly what the person is meaning by their comment, so the "sir that's a bird" is not equal to just accepting a person not familiar with paleo things calling dinosaurs stuff that are not
@daeartes@TPixel55@Lux__yx@15DNCT@gatorfanggg so it doesnt have to be a scientific paper to say what truly is a dinosaur and what not, it depends on the context and who is talking, if i call pterosaurs pterosaurs instead of dinosaurs the other person still gets what i mean as it is still referred to "the iconic flying ones"
@daeartes@TPixel55@Lux__yx@15DNCT@gatorfanggg if its something simple like the other guy say "imagine if a giant flying dinosaur pooped on you" (silly i know but it happened to be mentioned to me once lol) i know they mean pterosaurs so i will answer straight to their point i wont care to correct "actually its not dinosaur"
