Great to see new faces joining the #aiic SLN (Sign Language Network). Updates received from various parts of the globe, particularly in South America where we have experienced excellent engagement with SLIs.
There will be BSL live signing for the King’s Coronation on Sat 6th May on BBC2 and also on BBC iPlayer from 7.30am to 3pm and the King’s Coronation Concert on Sun 7th May on BBC iPlayer from 8pm to 10pm. Please share!
@deafdragongirl @dan_alun @NRCPD@RBSLItoday Totally agree about statutory regulation. But even with that there should be a place for trainees and, I believe, newly qualified interpreters within it.
@dan_alun @deafdragongirl @NRCPD@RBSLItoday I don’t understand the confusion. RBSLI and RSLI are different. With RBSLI they are still registered, even if it is a different register to NRCPD, so why shouldn’t they refer to themselves as registered? NRCPD don’t have the exclusive rights to that term.
@deafdragongirl @dan_alun @NRCPD@RBSLItoday I also see ASLI members describe themselves as ASLI registered. As a profession, we need to ensure we are describing ourselves correctly, otherwise it adds to the confusion for consumers and gives the cowboys a free ticket to take advantage of that confusion.
@deafdragongirl @dan_alun @NRCPD@RBSLItoday RSLI=Registered and TSLI=Regulated Trainee. However I see trainees describe themselves as registered trainee. If the interpreters can’t get it right, what hope do consumers have in understanding??
For the first-ever #NationalBSLDay on 28 April, we are looking for the UK's first #DeafPoetLaureate - the official poet of the #BSL signing community! 👋👋
We invite all #Deaf BSL signers to send a new poem (max 2 mins) on the theme of #WhyILoveBSL by 28 April to [email protected].
