Whitehall is abysmal at running railways. We have proven that a lot.
They're doing it now though so why both with a figleaf which is all most passenger Train Operating Conpanies with franchises are.
Labour's idea is also close to the model most EU states have.
Can you help? Police are appealing for witnesses following a serious collision between a car and cyclist in Bawsey last night (24 April 2024) and would like help identifying the car involved, believed to be a red VW Golf, which failed to stop - https://t.co/rqXFnSXx0Q
If NYC residents can get the life enhancing benefits of 20mph streets they why can't residents in your home village, town or city have the same. Congrats NYC for doing what's right to make their place a better place to be.
@jamesowild Thanks. Please ask them the hard questions. We can fact-check answers. To plan less than 1 mile of new cycleway was already unambitious and even that feels like it's slipped. Too much focus on a NORA hub that seems more of a car park, not meeting NCC definition of a travel hub.
Disappointed @JamesOWild doesn't mention the active travel projects. They seem to have been quietly sidelined after a few (but not all) disability-discriminating barriers were removed from cycleways. Lynn has done the hard bit and made a LCWI Plan. Please give it some funding!
£25 million Town Deal for #KingsLynn includes exciting projects such as St. George’s Guildhall; new library, adult skills and community hub; and @cwa_college School of Nursing Studies
Extra £20 million will complement those projects & new ones to boost jobs, skills, heritage.
@vision_lynn@jamesowild Last update July 2022? I think we met with you more recently than that. That page's timeline says you're delivering now, but what when? So far, well-used parking moved to a worse site to make way for ugly shipping containers, and some barriers were removed. No route signs yet.
@activetraveleng We're a bit worried that opportunities for cycling are being missed and walking is being actively harmed by these planned road changes near a local hospital. Who at ATE should we tell about this? https://t.co/vO1HqcbU9G
Over a million more adults walked or cycled for travel 🚶🚲
@activetraveleng Commissioner & #SportEngland Chair @Chris_Boardman shares his thoughts on how active travel plays a key role in creating a more active nation 👇

All over the world 20mph and 30km/h limits are being set as the norm in villages, towns and cities. It's not fascist or communist, or even right or left, but is a simple and cost-effective way to make places better places, especially for the most vulnerable road users

I'm talking to @BBCNorfolk about 1020 about #Norfolk getting £2¼m for #cycling and walking projects, including upgrading crossings of #A1078 EBW and the #A149 near #Sandringham (two projects from the #LCWIP). https://t.co/Eumbe70Rkc https://t.co/3KMR1kynmS
And people cycling can ride two abreast. It may be safer for them to do so. Refresh your Highway Code knowledge and help keep everyone safe: https://t.co/hXWxdJTmX6
More than 400 child friendly bike rides have been arranged this weekend around Europe to campaign for child- and bicycle-friendly places, safe routes to school, and independent mobility.
There are several taking place in the UK.

Do you have any horror stories about tying to take your bike on the train (particularly in the UK)? Or maybe you've always had a great experience, but either way let us know about it in the comments! #cycling#bikesontrains
@SarahHemming10@Sustrans_East@NorfolkCC@WestNorfolkBC@activetraveleng Not sure if you know, but the gate on the left is normally shut and locked. It opens mainly when there is an event at the sailing club, but occasionally for maintenance vehicles too. We're still waiting for the barrier in the first vid to be removed, though!
@Sustrans_East@NorfolkCC@WestNorfolkBC@activetraveleng Four months later. Barrier still there, blocking access to some. No warning signs at last opportunities to divert. Can we possibly stop screwing #NCN1 users with disabilities before the main leisure cycling season starts at Easter, @NorfolkCC, @Sustrans_East? We'll help if asked
@Sustrans_East@NorfolkCC@WestNorfolkBC@activetraveleng Wonderful. When, please? We can probably rent an angle grinder and send volunteers if you'll authorise it, because it's annoying people that much! Else could we have width warning sign at next junction north, please?
@bricycle Great! What would you like first? A covid active travel fund junction that doesn't work and they refuse to fix? A yet-to-be-determined application with a council-approved 1990s-style A-road roundabout? A policy-busting conditions-approval adding a lethal-layout junction to NCN 1?
