There's something deeply wrong about how inflated expectations have collectively gotten. Maybe this is just more pronounced online, but it seems like the majority of people have this lingering anxiety over the fact that they're currently unable to live as lavishly as the top 1%
It didn't used to be this way. I remember back when I graduated college, we were all over the moon after getting jobs. It wasn't even a salary thing, didn't matter what industry either, just the fact that we got to finally make money on our own for the first time was grounds for genuine excitement
Any negative feelings that popped up were more centered around the jobs themselves not being the right fit, not necessarily this chronic dread over the fact that you aren't able to buy or do certain things today that are normally a privilege to be enjoyed decades into an esteemed career
Nowadays, almost nobody feels accomplished. Having your own place to live in. Making 6-figures. Getting to spend time with friends. At a baseline, being able to say this means you're way closer to being a winner than a loser, but most are so depressed about not having millions of dollars, or this car, or that watch, or this standard of travel that the former doesn't even register as being worthy of pride
Something desperately needs to change, and I have no idea what the solution is or if there even is a solution. Society can no longer relax as their default state of being. This idea of "making it "isn't seen as a way to ascend anymore, now it's seen as a way to survive
You have to become an expert in positive self talk and find ways to adopt the correct perspectives. You have to be your own full time therapist and get your mindset dialed in like your life depended on it, or else the constant chatter will completely break you
This is like when I'm tossing and turning in bed, I imagine being on an airplane with my elbows on the tray and face in my hands, trying miserably to sleep, and then I imagine that I was upgraded to one of those insane first class cabins with a full bed. Puts me right to sleep.
