The following is a conversation with Kevin Lincoln. @KTLincoln

Kevin is a documentary filmmaker, producer, journalist, and writer with a sharp eye for the strange and a deep curiosity about the unseen. His work dives into the unexplained and the deeply human, and he’s written for The New York Times Magazine, The Atlantic, GQ, and The Wall Street Journal.
Kevin is the co-executive producer of BEYOND: UFOs and the Unknown, a four-part documentary series for MGM+, and UFO on Showtime — both produced in collaboration with J.J. Abrams’ Bad Robot. He’s worked with Oscar-winning producers and created shows for Netflix, Showtime, Discovery, MGM, and more.
It was BEYOND that brought Kevin and me together — I actually appeared in the series, with Kevin behind the camera asking me the questions. He’s a thoughtful and talented interviewer, and ever since, I’ve wanted to turn the tables and ask him a few questions of my own.
In this conversation, we dive into UFOs, belief, filmmaking, and what the phenomena might say about us — and what could be out there. Kevin’s a humble guy, but incredibly insightful. I think you’ll really enjoy this one.
The church in which my chess club meets burned down just hours after we were supposed to play. Considering the tragedy of the Los Angeles fires, I tried to reflect on what my club means to me and why I think organizations like it are essential

This weeks GOOD MOVES newsletter is a conversation with the LEGEND @rwohan about how you should *actually* protect a lead, in chess and everything else — plus, world chess champions: they're just like us! https://t.co/yWTPmDzC7J
Issue #2 of my newsletter, Good Moves — a newsletter about chess and what it can teach us about performance in other things, too! — is now out. Inside: how do we decide what to do when we don't know what to do? And will I lose to another child? Find out! https://t.co/G5OOpj17hk
I started a Substack. It's about chess and the lessons it can teach us about performance elsewhere, through the lens of my own Tuesday night games in an Altadena church. Last week, I lost to a 12-year-old, but I think I learned something? Enjoy! https://t.co/BszUxbMvYg
Had a really great conversation with Kelly Chase on the @UFO_Rabbit_Hole podcast about our new series BEYOND: UFOS AND THE UNKNOWN — the first episode of which you can now stream on MGM+! https://t.co/MUABhDbMyz
BEYOND: UFOS AND THE UNKNOWN premieres Sunday night on MGM+. We tried to push this story beyond machines in the sky — it's about the very nature of what it means to be human, and why UFOs are just the latest in a long history of the unexplained https://t.co/1rwNgbanv3

Friends, I'm happy to announce that I am appearing in a new four-part miniseries, Beyond: UFOs and the Unknown, premiering @mgmplus on October 27 at 10 p.m. ET/PT. It's executive produced by J.J. Abrams. Check out the trailer and more here: https://t.co/SiRxgM5TKr
If you have any interest in screenwriting, Hollywood, or how movies are made, I highly highly recommend my good friend @thecolbyday 's substack Hollyweird. Hollywood: it's pretty weird indeed! https://t.co/jlHqIES30R
When I was 21, I moved to Mauritania to explore for minerals in the Sahara. For @GrantaMag I went back to write about what has now become the world's biggest gold rush, and the geostrategic maneuverings now unfolding in the region.

My formal entry into “some personal news” Twitter: I sold my debut novel. It’s called SEE FRIENDSHIP, and it's out in winter 2025 via @HarperPerennial. It's about dead friends, inactive Facebook pages, the pivot to podcasting, getting too high in LA, 9/11 (jk… unless?), & more
I recently discovered that Paul Schrader directed a music video for Bob Dylan's "Tight Connection to My Heart (Has Anybody Seen My Love)" and I will not rest until it is released by Criterion with a wide range of bonus features https://t.co/W3cUH9EzWG
Cannot recommend this strongly enough, first of all for Ryan's extremely thoughtful and honest assessment of being a 2010s blog prince, but also @maxlinsky's terrific and perceptive interview. Great conversation!
