@hannytalker True. This is been the case for me since 2022, every time I made a decision that I was ready to go somewhere else it took me on average 4-5 months to find another position. And it wasn't applying - it was networking and proactively reaching out to my contacts
This is very true. I'm a huge supporter of remote work, but not for early-career professionals. Face-to-face interactions are vital for learning from others and finding a good mentor. I'm going to age myself, but I paid my dues by grinding in the office five days a week—Gen Zers need to do the same.
@ruthblooming This is interesting and very true. I want to lean on the power of "no." I've fallen into that trap too many times, saying "yes" when I shouldn't have. Understanding the power of "no" is very important
@randomrecruiter This is true. If you haven't done something and can speak to it, don't put it on your resume. I've had a fair share of interviews in the past where I would start asking questions and would get crickets
DOL alert for employers: New opinion letters warn that performance bonuses (safety, efficiency, etc.) based on set criteria MUST be included in regular rate for overtime calculations — no excluding them if predetermined! Review your bonus structures ASAP to stay FLSA-compliant. #HR #Overtime

I agree. I've worked at several companies that were nominated for or won these awards, yet they did not have the best cultures. These awards seem misplaced: companies that care most about receiving them often avoid looking inward to truly create and nurture a great workplace, and instead chase the prizes and accolades.
This is good advice. My only caution is that it needs to be authentic and not forced. Before I pivoted to consulting as an HR Director, people tried to force this kind of relationship, and it just doesn't work. It needs to come from a genuine desire to grow, not from trying to force oneself into a "room."
@LinkedInLunat1c That's funny. If a recruiter reaches out with an opportunity without the salary range, that's always the first thing I ask. Many states have passed laws requiring the salary range to be displayed/provided, and if it's not easily available, it's probably not good.
@JoinBlind The 'stability' ended when loyalty stopped being valued, that goes for both sides of the coin (employees & companies). There is no loyalty anymore so at this point nowhere is stable.
@MarketPalmer_ Research. Anything from market data to a large $ amount purchase decision. Instead of me spending several hours googling and finding sources & reviews, the tools can do that in seconds - then I go and read. It saves a lot of time in the decision making process.
@kevinolearytv True. My motto is: if I'm on time, I'm late; if I'm early, I'm on time. It has served me well in my career. I also can't stand people who are late, and it's even worse when they don't acknowledge their lateness.
I've always been firm that work colleagues are not your friends. In my role (HR) and as I've gotten older, it's really hard to make friends in general, and work "friends"/acquaintances are out of the question. I've remained connected with a few people after leaving a company, but it all fizzles out very quickly—the gossip stops, and your new world becomes irrelevant to their current one.
