You have an interview tomorrow. Great news, but now you have little time to prepare.
Don’t panic!
You can make a strong impression with a few focused actions.
5 Last-Minute Interview Prep Tips
1️⃣ Read the job description carefully. Highlight 3-5 key responsibilities (usually high on the list). Think of a story from your experience using the STAR method...Situation, Task, Action, and Result.
2️⃣ Research the company. Spend 15 minutes on their website. Look at their mission, values, and recent news. Look to see what they are posting on social media. This can tell you what opportunities they are pursuing and why. Incorporating this into your conversation will set you apart from the competition.
3️⃣ Prep your “Tell me about yourself” answer. Stick to a two-minute answer max. Talk about the knowledge, skills, and expertise you exhibit now, in the past, and will in the future that will benefit this employer.
4️⃣Have a weakness ready. You do not want to stumble over this question. Choose a real but non-fatal weakness and explain how you're improving it. Example: “I used to struggle with delegating, thinking I could do things better, but I’ve learned to trust my team.”
5️⃣ Prepare 2-3 questions for them. Try to make these questions not the run-of-the-mill ones. You can take what you learned in #2 to help.

BREAKING: ChatGPT can now automate your entire job hunt for free.
Here are 7 insane ChatGPT prompts that will help you to secure 5+ interviews in 24 hours:
Interviewer: "Why did you leave your last job?"
Answer it wrong & you raise a red flag. Here’s what not to say, even if it’s true:
❌ "My boss was terrible"
❌ "The company was toxic"
❌ "I hated my colleagues"
❌ "The salary was too low"
❌ "I got fired" (without context)
(How to answer it the right way)
Situation 1: You quit voluntarily
"I was looking for new challenges and growth opportunities that aligned better with my career goals. I appreciated my time there, but I’d reached a plateau and was ready for the next step"
Situation 2: You were let go
"The company went through restructuring and my role was impacted. While it was challenging, it gave me clarity on what I want next. I’m now looking for a role where I can contribute long-term"
Situation 3: Contract ended
"My contract came to its natural end. It was a great learning experience and now I’m looking for a permanent role where I can grow with the company"
Situation 4: Better opportunity
"I received an opportunity aligned with my interest in [specific field/skill]. However, I’ve realised that your company offers [specific value], which fits better with my current career direction"
Situation 5: Career change
"After [X] years in [industry], I developed a strong interest in [new field]. I’ve been upskilling through courses and projects, and I’m ready to transition into a role where I can apply both my transferable skills and new knowledge"
The formula:
• Brief, honest reason (without negativity)
• What you learned
• What you’re looking for now, tied to their company
Tips:
✅ Keep it short (30-60 seconds)
✅ Stay positive about past employers
✅ Focus on the future
✅ Show you’re moving towards something
They’re testing your professionalism more than your past.

Can You Apply for Multiple Positions on PSCIMS?
Yes, technically you can apply for more than one job on PSCIMS—as long as you meet the qualifications for each. But here’s the part most people overlook: just because you can, doesn’t always mean you should.
Here is why ....
The Common Illusion
A lot of applicants think:
- “I qualify for several roles, so I’ll apply for all of them. If I get shortlisted for more than one, I’ll choose later.”
- It sounds like a smart move. But in practice, it rarely works that way.
Reality
- Each PSC position has very specific requirements. When you apply to multiple roles with the same generic profile , you end up looking unfocused. Your application might come across as mismatched.
- Recruiters want to see clarity—someone who knows what they want and aligns well with the job. Applying for five different roles across departments sends the opposite message.
What Actually Happens Behind the Scenes
- Your Profile Looks Generic : Applying for too many roles can water down your message. You’re less likely to tailor your PSCIMS profile or application to match each specific role—which lowers your chances of being shortlisted.
- It Signals You’re Unsure : Reviewers might assume you're just trying your luck, not genuinely interested in any particular role.
- Screening Fatigue : If your name shows up multiple times across applications—especially with weak or unfocused submissions—evaluators may skip over your name entirely.
Pro Tip
Instead of looking greedy, be focused.
- Pick the one position where you truly meet and exceed the qualifications.
- Take time to revamp your PSCIMS profile and customize it for that role.
- Align your experience and achievements with the job description.
- If you feel equally strong for two roles that matches your revamped profile, it's okay to apply for both—but ideally not within the same State Department or Ministry, to avoid conflict or confusion.
Take Away
Focus on the role which you believe you qualify(strongly) best. Revamp your profile well and apply the one that is best or fits you well. Don't be too greedy applying for many posts then you get not successful to all.
Remember that you can only have one PSCIMS profile!
