A new preprint from the lab. I won't do a tweetorial until this is peer reviewed, but I think it's a banger, led by @JedNzy. It's about Rubisco and what chaperones are really for. He's on the market, get him while you can.

It was a formative experience to be in America for the first time and to attend the #GRC on Evolution. I had the chance to give a talk at the GRS and present my poster at the GRC. I received valuable feedback and also had the pleasure of meeting some truly inspiring people.
super exciting work by our former student @tretyacv (now with Pilpel lab)! using unique ML assisted pipeline they identified thousands non-genetic mutations in large proteomic data, showing another layer of diversity that human proteome consist of 🪄

New paper from the lab from @SriramGarg. We introduce a general substitution matrix for structural phylogenetics. I think this is a big deal, so read on below if you think deep history is important. https://t.co/G0udjpTsDw
An enormous amount of work went into this from so many people: our leadership at the MPI and the university, the scientific team, the administrative support and of course all the scientists that did the science that laid the foundations. What a rush to be part of this!
📢We are thrilled that our Microbes for Climate (M4C) Cluster of Excellence has been selected for the 2025 Excellence Strategy! 🥳 Together with Philipps University Marburg, we're looking forward to some exciting #microbe research! @maxplanckpress@BangeBalcony#synbio#research
I am more than happy to see this story to be out. We show another inhibition manner to Acetyl-CoA synthetase. Great thanks to mentor Gert and Joh. also great thanks to my best old friend Yifei as well as all contributed 🍀🍀🍀
Just appeared: How knowing physics helps to understand bacterial strategies of resource allocation. Congratulation @LisevichIra on this paper! https://t.co/jqcZE9awxc
It was a lot of fun organizing this year’s retreat for the @IMPRS_Mic of the @mpi_marburg. I was responsible for organizing the industry session. Big thank you to @BASFAgroand and @IQVIA_global for taking the time to visit us and share potential career paths with us.
~5y ago, @BDragonMaster@serina_robinson@marnixmedema & I teamed up to make a better NRPS A-domain specificity predictor. @Challis_Group & others joined along the way to add some very cool insights.
Very proud of this work. Check it out now on biorxiv! https://t.co/KZnjHNJ3XM
Excited to share my first paper as a postdoc with @KaHochberg@mpi_marburg! We've made some fascinating discoveries about the evolution of animal stem cells in colab with @jauchr and @deMendoza_Alex. 🧬🔬

Exciting news 🚀 @MathiasGirbig and @KaHochberg helped showing that essential proteins for animal #stemcell regulation are much older than previously thought, dating back over 700 million years. Check it out👓

The conference at #EMBOEvoEco a few weeks ago was fantastic! This time, the focus was on mechanisms in evolution, and I had the chance to exchange insights on my research with brilliant evolutionists. Now the story comes to an end and I hope to share more about it with you soon.
Off to a good start at #EMBOEvoEco✨😀
Yesterday was the first day and @HarmitMalik held the keynote lecture about fitness landscapes in host-virus interactions. 🦠
In the evening the participants had fun at the science pub quiz and the poster session sneak peek 🖼️🍸
