Finally justice has bn delivered aftr we filed a case against sme security personnels and attorney General. We were unlawful detained for more than 48hrs and the court hs ruled it as it was unlawful. We cal upon the remainng scurity to respect the activities of Climate Activists.
@deCOALonize@wemanya_amos 🧵7/8: Our dependence on imported energy systems is very fragile. The expectation was for African leaders to react with a plan to move us away from this crisis; instead, we see more interest in doubling down. #EACOP anyone? #WePayTheyProfit
The month of May not only honors Labour Day but also Mother's Day.
We celebrate our women because they have always been our backbone. We celebrate women: on farms,in markets,in boardrooms, and on the front lines of justice. They build communities, their leadership will protect them
"Court documents show that the activists were later held in custody and produced in court on November 28, 2023, exceeding the constitutional requirement that suspects be presented before court within 48 hours." https://t.co/VAcncKpLTG
Happy to share that I have been selected for the Capacity Building and Skill Sharing for Climate Activists Program (CBSSCAP) Cohort 2 – 2026.
I’m looking forward to learning, growing and engaging with fellow climate advocates across Africa as we strengthen collective action for climate justice and sustainable communities.
Grateful to Yanayi Haki Afriqya for this opportunity.
Today we join the rest of the world to celebrate #workersDay also known as #LaborsDay in Uganda. We celebrate the dedication ,resilience and hard work of all small-scale farmers especially those in #EACOP affected communities that are promoting #Agroecology Practice.
🧵2/8: We buy expensive fuel and borrow to subsidize it. This traps us in a cycle where governments use tax revenue to pay off debt. Santa Marta can tackle the debt issue and foster cooperation among countries because no nation can transition alone. #WePayTheyProfit
As we mark Labour Day, here are insights from yesterday's media breakfast. 🧵1/8: @wemanya_amos stated that this report is timely. Leadership in the Netherlands and Colombia has created a new pathway. What happened in Santa Marta this week will change the game. #WePayTheyProfit
Happy Labour Day!
To all the hardworking men and women across the EACOP corridor:
Your dedication and resilience are the driving force behind our progress. Today, we celebrate your vital contributions to building a brighter future.
Wishing you a restful and well-deserved day!
We used to believe in courts thinking that They are independent not knowing that they Work under Instructions, Amagistrate remands you on Instructions for any Period they want, and after they endup Convicting You, even without enough evidence.##Ug stop Silencing activists.
We continue to put our lives on the line in the pursuit of a Uganda that's free from the Oil Industry and fighting for everyday working Ugandans that want a livable planet. Even as Uganda is pushing for it's first oil, the debate on economic freedom must be on the Center Stage!
In Uganda, we nolonger get justice b'se the courts that are supposed to provide justice are now
Used by the oppressors like @TotalEnergies to oppress Ugandans and activists that speak up against impunity,we must rise against the magistrates that think are small gods #StopEACOP
"The case has drawn attention from civil society groups, with renewed debate over the handling of protests and the space for civic activism in Uganda" #StopEACOP!

Earlier this week our comrades arrested on 1 August for protesting Stanbic Bank’s involvement in EACOP have been released from prison.
They walk free after spending 9 months on remand.
But they walk out with a conviction.
That is the injustice.
They have already served almost the full sentence for a minor charge of common nuisance. Still, the system chose to label them as criminals.
These are individuals who took peaceful action to defend communities, livelihoods, and the climate.
A conviction will follow them. It affects work, travel, and their future.
This is not justice.
Climate activism is not a crime. Peaceful protest is a right.
Their courage remains. So does the struggle.
We call for:
•A review of this conviction
•Protection of the right to protest
•Accountability for institutions backing harmful projects like EACOP
They are free. But they should never have been convicted.
COMRADE NOAH KATIITI PENS DOWN HIS EMOTIONAL AND DEFIANCE LETTER BEFORE HIS SENTENCE AT 2PM TODAY.
Fellow Countrymen,
I wish to extend my heartfelt appreciation to the honourable court for proving that justice CAN'T be achieved in Uganda's judicial system.
It's indeed wrong amd unlawful for one to exercise their constitutional rights as well as speaking against injustices in one's countrya as per the judiciary here.
Together with my co-accused we are not and will will never be sorry for speaking against injustices in our country Uganda. Therefore, there is no term of sentence that will ever silence us.
IF BEING A VOICE TO THE VOICELESS IS A CRIME, WE ARE WILLING TO BE CRIMINALS FOR LIFE.

It’s heartbreaking to see a young girl spend almost seven months in prison on common nuisance charges since 1/08/2025, for peacefully protesting Stanbic Bank’s partial funding of the East African Crude Oil Pipeline.
From Luzira Prison, Nalwadda Shammy, one of the 8 arrested activists, sent me a simple yet powerful letter, expressing her heartfelt gratitude to everyone who has stood in solidarity with them. She also extends her deepest thanks to her lawyers, acknowledging their tireless efforts despite the delays and continued remand.
Here is an appreciation letter from a brave and sweet soul, whose courage, resilience, and gratitude shine even behind bars.
