The 1980s in one frame.
Seeing legends like Raj Kapoor, Rajesh Khanna, Mehmood along with Reena Roy and Anil Kapoor at the Sharjah stadium with Dawood Ibrahim is not just a fan moment - it is a visual record of how deeply D-company’s influence ran through Bollywood.
The VIP stands were where the real scripts were written. A reminder of a time when the underworld was not just a movie plot, it was the producer. Sigh
Jago Hindu -
Today at Bengaluru KSR Railway Station (Platform 5), I bought food from a shop named “Rekha Foods.” While paying via Google Pay, the name showed “Mohammed Nazeem.” On noticing further, several shops had Hindu names but were operated by Muslims.
@aroorprashanth It was my father N Yogish Bhat's dream project. It had potential similar to Coastal Road of Mumbai today and unfortunately It was far ahead of its time when it was conceived.
76th Vardhanti Mahotsava: Astikas from all parts of the globe congregated in large numbers at Narasimha Vana, Sringeri, to receive the rare and blessed Ahnika Darshana of Dakshinamnaya Sri Sharada Peethadheeshwara Jagadguru Shankaracharya Sri Sri Bharati Tirtha Mahasannidhanam, and thereafter had the sacred Darshana of Jagadguru Shankaracharya Sri Sannidhanam.

Police: “Send mutton biryani.”
Hotel owner: “Mutton biryani is over, I’ll send fried rice.”
Customer to Hotel owner: “Why did you lie about it being over?”
Hotel owner: “Serving them fried rice itself is a big deal, it’s all free, they never pay. They show up three times a day demanding food.”
And on top of that, the hotel allegedly pays ₹5,000 every month.
Yet the Chamchas want us to believe that congress government is pro poor and they are here to protect us… 😂
NO MORE EXTENSIONS OF TRAIN NO. 16511/16512 – ENOUGH IS ENOUGH!!!
Train No. 16511/16512 KSR Bengaluru – Kozhikode Express was originally introduced as a dedicated train up to Mangaluru Central, serving the people of Dakshina Kannada and nearby regions of Karnataka. Over time, it was extended to Kannur, reducing the exclusive benefit that Mangaluru once had. Now it has been further extended to Kozhikode, and now there are reports of extending it even beyond to Shoranur Jn.
This is clearly a step-by-step dilution of Mangaluru’s railway importance and connectivity.
With every extension, the seat and berth availability for passengers from Mangaluru and Dakshina Kannada region is getting reduced, as the quota is being distributed further beyond Mangaluru. A train that was meant to serve Karnataka is now gradually shifting its benefit away from the state.
Despite strong and continuous opposition from the people of Dakshina Kannada, both South Western Railway (SWR) and Southern Railway (SR) are pushing these decisions without giving any importance to public concerns.
If connectivity to Kerala is being cited as the reason, then let them demand and introduce a separate new train for that purpose. Why should an existing train meant for Mangaluru be continuously extended and diluted instead of addressing Karnataka’s needs?
At the same time, long-pending railway demands of Mangaluru and Karnataka are being ignored — no proper new trains, no restoration of important services, no priority for connectivity via the Hassan line, and no effort to strengthen internal connectivity within Karnataka.
People are not against connectivity, but they are strongly against losing their rightful share of seats, berths, and priority in a train originally meant for their region.
Now it is very clear — no more extensions are needed. Enough is enough. Stop this immediately.
We strongly urge @SWRRLY and @GMSRailway to roll back further extension plans and protect the existing seat and berth quota for Mangaluru and Dakshina Kannada passengers without any reduction.
@CaptBrijesh sir, This is the time to break your silence. People of Dakshina Kannada are expecting you to stand up and protect their interests.
And a final question to @SWRRLY, @GMSRailway -
After Shoranur Jn, what next? Palakkad Jn? Thiruvananthapuram Central? Or even Kanyakumari? Where does this end?

Top notch execution. Have been following him since #SwachBharath days, matured and clear about his strategies.

@aroorprashanth@sudhakarbal Dear Mr Rao, thank you for your feedback. Seating has been arranged in a unidirectional manner and is not facing each other for passenger comfort and safety. We appreciate your understanding. Team Mangaluru International Airport.
Prioritising Fair Rail Connectivity
When Kozhikode already had a daily train to Bengaluru, what was the need to extend the dedicated Mangaluru–Bengaluru train up to Kozhikode? Such decisions raise serious questions about planning and the equitable allocation of limited railway capacity.
If Kozhikode required an additional service, the Railways could have introduced a new train via Tamil Nadu instead of extending an existing train that already runs through the constrained Shiradi Ghat section. This route has severe slot limitations, and every path through it is extremely valuable.
Coastal Karnataka is already struggling to secure additional train services through Shiradi Ghat due to these operational constraints. Extending an existing train beyond Mangaluru, when an alternate route via Tamil Nadu is available, only increases pressure on an already saturated corridor while regions dependent on this route continue to face connectivity challenges.
A balanced approach in railway planning is essential to ensure fair connectivity for all regions.
@AshwiniVaishnaw@CaptBrijesh@Tejasvi_Surya@PCMohanMP@ShobhaBJP@KotasBJP@VSOMANNA_BJP@SWRRLY
Despite the strong opposition from people of Mangaluru and other regions of Dakshina Kannada, Train No. 16511/16512 KSR Bengaluru–Kannur Express has now been extended further to Kozhikode. Once again, the voices of Dakshina Kannada have been completely ignored.
Both @SWRRLY and @GMSRailway have shown clear injustice to Dakshina Kannada district in this matter.
Let us look at the reality:
• No Navyug Express for Mangaluru.
• No Vande Bharat Express for Mangaluru.
• No Mangaluru–Tirupati train via Hassan line.
• No extension of Mahalakshmi Express to Mangaluru.
But when it comes to extending KSR Bengaluru–Kannur Express, it gets quickly pushed further to Kozhikode.
This train was originally dedicated to Mangaluru.
Then it was extended to Kannur.
Now it is extended again to Kozhikode.
Step by step, Mangaluru’s rail connectivity is being diluted, while the concerns of the people of Dakshina Kannada are repeatedly ignored.
Even during peak seasons and festivals, special trains to the coast conveniently bypass Mangaluru, despite huge passenger demand.
Is this how @SWRRLY treats Karnataka’s second-largest economic hub and one of India’s major GDP-contributing cities?
Now that the extension to Kozhikode has been done despite strong public opposition, the least that can be done is to ensure fairness in seat allocation.
Maintain the existing 80:20 seat and berth sharing arrangement, where passengers from the Mangaluru–Subrahmanya region receive a larger share, and the beyond-Mangaluru section receives a smaller share.
At the very least, ensure justice and fair representation for passengers of Dakshina Kannada.
And congratulations to @CaptBrijesh sir for maintaining remarkable silence on this issue.

Lokakalyana.
For the "What do Shankaracharyas do" folks :-
They :-
Make living devata presence accessible to us.
Ensure our kshetras retain their vitality.
Drive social cohesion via Dharma prachara and vidhi clarity.
Guide spiritual journeys which is the real reason and potential of human birth.
Secure upkeep of thousands of schools, crafts, ritual practices.
Integrate diverse newer forms that emerge organically and locally into the Sanatana stream.
THAT is the meta institution.
Known the world over for his sacred and historic feat, 19-year-old Vedamurti Devavrat Mahesh Rekhe of Maharashtra - recently honoured in Kashi for flawlessly completing the Dandakrama Parayanam of nearly 2000 mantras of the Shukla Yajurveda (Madhyandina Shakha) in 50 uninterrupted days - came to Sringeri to seek the Jagadguru’s blessings. During darshan, he performed the Dandakrama Parayanam of the First Mantra of the Ishavasya Upanishad before Jagadguru Shankaracharya Sri Sri Vidhushekhara Bharati Sannidhanam and received His gracious blessings.

Jagadguru Shankaracharya Sri Sri Vidhushekhara Bharati Sannidhanam addresses a question that has echoed through generations: Why did Bhagavan remain silent when invaders attacked and destroyed our sacred temples?
His Holiness clarifies that the misfortune never belonged to Bhagavan - it belonged to us. The Jagadguru explains that God neither gains nor loses by His presence or absence in a temple. He manifests only out of compassion for devotees - to uplift, bless, and elevate. The true loss, therefore, is not to Bhagavan but to our faith, our devotion, and our dharma, the very framework that ensures inner welfare and societal well-being. Those who benefit from the sanctity and suffer when it is violated must be the ones to protect it - not blame Bhagavan.
His Holiness urges every individual to recognise their God-given capacity to contribute. History, He reminds us, carries its own warnings. The protection of dharma demands alertness, unity, and responsibility from each one of us.

13 hours to get to Goa. That too on Vande Bharat?
31 years ago, I used to travel from Bengaluru to Panaji on ordinary buses in 14 hours. What really changed in three decades?
