This is a good time to remember that while Donald Trump is diabolically effective at manipulating the media to run campaigns, he is absolutely TERRIBLE at actually running the government or handling DC politics.
Campaign was the easy part. It's all downhill for him from here.
Washington's tech-heavy economy, recent wage growth, longtime abortion-rights focus and high share of college-educated voters likely played a role, experts told Axios.

Dear Media:
STOP saying Trump "selected" or "appointed" a potential cabinet member like it's a done deal.
He NOMINATES them. And they must be CONFIRMED by the Senate, as required by the Constitution.
It's a presidency, not a monarchy.

We the People
Trump has dropped below 50% of the popular vote, and will stay there.
He won. But the new Big Lie was that he now has a "mandate" as a result of his "landslide" victory.
To recap, the Republican Party has opposed:
-Paid sick leave
-Paid family & medical leave
-Universal childcare
-Universal pre-K
-Tax increases on corporations & the rich
-The expanded Child Tax Credit
-Student debt relief
Doesn't sound like the party of the working class to me.
Saying it again 49.9% with a 1.5% margin is not an overwhelming majority.
Stop feeding the narrative that he won overwhelmingly. The nation is split as it has been and he won on the margin. Half the nation said “no” and let’s not act otherwise
Washingtonian here. Pretty simple formula: high minimum wage, best OT policy, paid family leave, working family tax credit, expanded childcare, high road employers, top research institutions, diverse industries, focus on trades, and strong labor unions. Just to name a few. 1/8
BREAKING NEWS: Black voters are experiencing the same economy everyone else in America is experiencing.
And still, Black voters did their Black jobs at the voting booth.
People can analyze, hypothesize, blame Dems till they are blue in the face. None of it matters.
This is the game right here.
Misinformation works. Those that believed misinformation voted Trump. Those that believed the truth voted Harris.
There is NO candidate that can change this.
Republicans have a well oiled propaganda machine that spans all media platforms and we do not.
Period.
Millions of Americans just refuse to believe in facts and reality. And social media relentlessly promotes lies over reality. We will keep writing fact-based news to arm the people with the power of knowledge, but many people’s clear preference is to arm themselves with ignorance.
From Ipsos last month. People who answered factual questions about inflation, crime, and immigration incorrectly were "more likely to opt for Trump," while those who answered correctly preferred Harris.
Disinformation and lack of basic education and knowledge are destroying us.
