This speech is full of half-truths, distortions, misleading claims and outright lies.
Basically living up to every meme, trope and unfair stereotype, of Americans being ignorant morons.
I'll go through each of the claims he made in this segment and what the actual facts are. /1
@pub_that As much as I’d like to see them successful they took a risk and it backfired. The tents look tired, and there are other ways to create attractive outdoor areas.
@GWRHelp Really bad idea to divert Cheltenham to London passengers via Worcester and then run those trains with 5 packed carriages and no seat reservations. It shouldn’t be this difficult!
Here is a very short thread on this news story, and how the story has become bigger than it probably deserves to be:
If you read the text the BBC put out here, it says "Public *asked* to swear allegiance to King Charles"
That's not quite the case...
THREAD: The Benefits of EU Membership
Let's remind ourselves of some of the things Brexit took from us when we left the EU. (Not an exhaustive list.)
1. No barriers to trade with the world's largest trading bloc. (Bristol, Berlin, Barcelona all equally accessible.)
If you’re not gov funded/ influenced media then you are advertiser funded/ influenced. Is that better? There’s some pretty dodgy advertisers out there with all kinds of weird ideas.
Lots of U.K. train travel recently and I’m wondering: Are there worse trains than those from @CrossCountryUK ? Old, dirty, seats too small, uncomfortable, not enough tables, and always, always , always packed.
Staff do their best, must be hell for them.
“Post-Brexit, Britons must have their passports stamped every time they enter the Schengen area so that European authorities can monitor whether visitors are exceeding their visa-free tourist limit of 90 days” https://t.co/NvTM5PGprM
The anxiety of that moment was unreal. Contacting our staff with no real answers for them as to how long we would be closed or if we would make it through. Would they keep their jobs, could we pay them, could we afford to live ourselves? So surreal now!
Next week many Hospitality businesses will see energy bills increase by up to 90%.
Ofgem have failed us all. Useless.
The big energy firms have used us as cash cows and need holding to account.
The Gov't mechanism to balance this out, should be REDUCE VAT to 10%.
Wednesday morning maths question. Your staff costs are about to increase by 25k pa, Utilities by 35k, Rent by 5k pa and every other bill you have by at least 11-15% meaning you will be working for less than nothing…what’s the answer?
Hand in the keys?

We are asking the Chancellor to:
✅Introduce a new lower business rates multiplier
✅Implement minor, short-term immigration reforms
✅Introduce a temporary, reduced rate of VAT
✅Reform the Apprenticeship Levy
✅Ask OFGEM to intervene in the non-domestic energy market

Very British challenges:
1. Drag the wheelie bin back in without having a peek inside first
2. Place items on a shop counter without saying “just these, please”
3. Pay for petrol without looking back out at the pump
4. End a taxi journey without saying “anywhere here’s fine”
@9to5mac@benlovejoy Happened here also. Fixed by restarting the designated home hub (which was a mini btw). Homekit generally flaky nowadays and that’s after a successful upgrade to new architecture. Oh…Apple 🙃
Genuinely disappointed that this Harry’s book hullabaloo has nothing to do with wizards or spells. Frankly I could not careless about this other bloke, nor his missus. #whothefuckisHarry
